Pleasantly Surprised
Revisado: 04-25-25
Yes, Catchers is a run of the mill monster story, but the writing, humor and actors made it a fun listen. When the story ended, I immediately checked for sequels or other stories by these writers and NOTHING!

Historia
Down there, beyond the deepest caves, below the crust and the mantle, there is another world. An old woman locked away in a Russian asylum has a secret - knowledge of a 500-year-old manuscript written by a long-dead alchemist that will show a passage to the mythical centre of the Earth. She knows it’s real because 50 years ago, she and a team travelled there. And only she made it back. Today, caving specialist Mike Monroe leads a crew into the world’s deepest cave in the former Soviet Union.

Cool Story Bro!
Revisado: 01-05-25
I appreciate Greig Beck’s ability to imagineer horrific prehistoric monsters to murder his characters in ways I just enjoy a little too much. My only criticism of this story was the repetition of the “ they will see us as gods” pep talk. At that point in the story it should have been clear that the center of the earth hadn’t found religion. If you liked this book I recommend the first two books of The First Bird by this author.

Jo Beverley is a New York Times best-selling author whose lush romances have earned her a place in the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame. An Unwilling Bride traces an unlikely match between two headstrong people. In order to keep his vast estates in the family, the Duke of Belcraven must find a suitable bride for Lucien de Vaux, his only heir. But the woman he chooses for Lucien has plans of her own. Edgy But Not In A Good Way
Revisado: 04-14-19
I’ve read hundreds of romance novels and this is the first one where the male lead sleeps with his ex one last time and backhands the heroine in a fit of rage. We’re not even going to get into the insane family dynamic where our happy couples middle aged parents sex scene is depicted hours upon hours before theirs. Their parents? Yes. I can’t recommend this book. I can’t even finish this book.

Okay Story.
Revisado: 04-11-19
It's an okay story but I have to admit that I was entertained by the narrator. I fell out every time she read parts about keeping her braids moisturized because you could hear the question marks in the narrators voice every time like "what am I reading again?" If you have the romance package then I'd recommend putting it on your list otherwise skip.

This is not your typical romance novel.
Revisado: 08-11-18
After 19 chapters of a well spun tale of abuse and tragedy, the bisexual hero and heroine who was sold into prostitution by her mother have still not gotten together so I'm calling it quits. While there's nothing necessarily wrong with the hero recognizing another man by his backside that's just not what I was looking for in a romance novel. I may come back and listen to the last 6 chapters at a later time because I am curious as to where this story was headed but for now I'm done.

What I get for judging a book by it's cover.
Revisado: 06-09-18
I went into the novel expecting a quirky bwwm love story and I received a regular degular quirky love story. Admittedly, I have only listened to the audiobook once but I missed any description of the main character Joan as being a bw. Now that is out of the way, it was a cute, insane story that went all over the place. The ending....is an ending. Overall, it was literally a solid 2ish star ok book that if you're bored enough will get the job done.

The best of The Truth About The Duke series
Revisado: 05-23-18
This book is a gem. I'm normally not a fan of male narrators for romance novels but Gildart Jackson's intonations added a pleasant surprise to the racier scenes in the book. This was the first novel I listened to by Caroline Linden and was eager to read the rest of this series and more of her books. I really haven't liked any of the other characters in her other novels as well as the ones featured in BIOB.

Historia
Growing up with telepathic abilities, Sookie Stackhouse realized early on there were things she'd rather not know. And now that she's an adult, she also realizes that some things that she knows about, she'd rather not see—like Eric Northman feeding off another woman. A younger one. There's a thing or two she'd like to say about that, but she has to keep quiet—Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), is in town.

A series in decline.
Revisado: 05-12-12
Would you try another book from Charlaine Harris and/or Johanna Parker?
This is going to be the last Sookie Stackhouse novel I bother to read. When I began the series, it was nothing for me to listen to the entire audiobook within one to three days max. It's taken me a week to finish Deadlocked because it's boring. Of course there is action because Sookie cannot stay out of trouble, but it's written in such a going through the motions way that I just didn't care. There is a pretty good "OMG" moment at the end of the novel, but you have to wade through 7.5 hours of blah blah blah to get to it.
What do you think your next listen will be?
A Clash of Kings
Which scene was your favorite?
The end.
What character would you cut from Deadlocked?
What in the spoiler heck is up with this question? There was no need to have random characters that we haven't heard from in a few books call to say "Happy Birthday" in the name of fan fodder.

Revisado: 11-12-04
The Stupidest Angel was really funny and as a horror movie fan I was pleasantly surprised by the plot twist. The voice work on the recording was well done and added to the humor. This was my first Christopher Moore novel and after listening I'm sure that I will pick up other recordings of his work.
