The story uses a virtual voice. The virtual voice sounds like a young twenty-something, but the inflections are all wrong and there is very little modulation. Statements frequently sound like questions. I understand why an author would be tempted to use a virtual voice for narration to save $$$, but this was not a good choice.

The story is also extremely week. It is an amalgamation of similar stories. I would not be surprised if the story is also AI written. If were the author, I would be embarrassed to have my name on this audiobook. I was embarrassed that I listened. It was free, but it wasn't worth the time.

I also know audio is strong sponsoring virtual narration, and I am sorry to see that. Give me a R. C. Bray or a Tim Gerard Reynolds any day.

I have read/listened to several stories that involved talking dogs. This is quite a bit different. Yes, there are dogs that talk (plural), but the perspective is 180 degrees from what you might expect. I loved the narration and the characters. You can't think too much about the logic or the physics of the story, but it is a wild romp of the unexpected. There are a plethora of characters that .would not be considered "main" characters, such as the Panda bus driver in Tokyo, but they all add to the wild adventure that is "Good Boys."

This is a non-story. It is a long series of almost, but not quite, related events. There is no story. There are some interesting characters, but the storyline - if there is one - is well hidden. That hardest part for me to believe is that there is a series of audiobooks after this one. I bought this because it was part of a two for one sale, but if you buy it, I would suggest ingesting some magic mushrooms. Maybe it would make more sense that way.

I listened to all three of the Ash Angels books. R.C. Bray is terrific - always. His skill with multiple voices makes you forget that only one person is doing the narration.
As to the story, the first book was intriguing and new. The second book was more of the same, but a little repetitive.
This book was just too much in almost all regards. I only finished because I felt compelled to hear the last, but it was hard, as the story never let up. The Greeks would have called this Deus Ex Machina. You always knew that the Gods (Angels in this case) would solve the hero's unsolvable problems. I was OK with that, but it kept going and going and going. I think the last four hours could have been reduced by about 75%. Thank goodness for Sparks and Finney. A little comic relief was helpful. A little more would have even been better.

I was looking for something new to listen to. R. C. Bray is my favorite narrator, although some of the books he narrates were not my favorites. I was unfamiliar with the author Brian Fuller. I decided to take a change. I was surprise by this story. It fascinated me from the beginning. I rarely have a hard time stopping listening, but this story was addictive for me. The story line was unexpected and very different. R. C. Bray did his normal excellent job of narration and you forget that this whole group of people are being created and brought to life by Bray. Great listen. I have already downloaded the sequel. I was unaware this was a series when I started listening to this book, and I sincerely hope that the quality of the story continues.

I actively seek audiobooks narrated by RC Bray. I was surprised to find this was a western, just like the good old days. I grew up on these stories of range wars and family feuds. I saw so many movies as a young person involving same, and I never enjoyed them. And throwing in the Romeo and Juliet derivative between the two families is a Cliché. Very disappointed.

Most Enjoyable Story in a Long Time

I truly enjoyed this story. I am always a fan of the narration by R.C. Bry, and Jeremy Robinson is also one of my favorite authors. This was a very "strange" story from the very beginning. One of the main characters (Henry) has a medical condition where he has no amygdala. This condition made him "fearless." I had my doubts as congnitive neuroscience is an area about which I know something. I did a liittle research and learned that there is a rare genetic disorder, Urbach-Wiethe disease, where a person does not have a functional amygdala and experiences no fear. That gave this story credibility.

The issue aside, this is a bit of a wacky story, but if the reader just enjoys the action, the story can be entertaining. I truly enjoyed listening to this. It was crazy and fun.

I was intrigued by the title, so decided to give this book a try. I was intrigue by the inventiveness of the various story lines. However, even though I realize there is a "book two," nothing was ever resolved within an underdetermined number of branches to this mutant tree. While I have never taken a hullucigenic drug like LSD, this story feels fike the ramblings of someone on such a trip. I kept hoping for ome sort of conclusion, but there was none. I am not going to listed to book two.

I have listened to a number of books by Jason Anspach, and J.N. Chaney, and generally have enjoyed them. R. C. Bray is arguably my favorite narrator. When I bought this look, it was clear that it was a start of a new series. I dislike committing to any series. That having been said, I found this book probably the best of this genre that I have listened to in a very long time. It is never boring. There is a lot of action. While it does not take a genius where the direction of the second book might go, I am now frustrated because I have no idea when that will come out.

If you like military stories set in the future that are well written and narrated by a 5 star narrator, I believe you will like this book.

I am a fan of R. C. Bray as a narrator, and I look for books where he has been the narrator. Audible was pushing this book, so I took a chance. My question is why was this book written and why did Mr. Bray agree to serve as the narrator? A large portion at the beginning is essentially a monolog. As we get to the end of the text, while the [spoiler alert] concept of the universe being a computer simulation has been around for a couple of decades, the last third of the book is a mish-mash of scenarios that might be more appropriate for an academic discussion after considerable ingestion of magic mushrooms.
