Really weak story
Revisado: 11-23-23
Bosch couldn’t help. The Lincoln Lawyer is innocent, but the entire story, he has no proof. And magically he is set free at the end. The weakest of story lines ever.

Historia
Back when Harry Bosch was just a rookie homicide detective, he had an inspiring mentor who taught him to take the work personally and light the fire of relentlessness for every case. Now that mentor, John Jack Thompson, is dead, but after his funeral his widow hands Bosch a murder book that Thompson took with him when he left the LAPD 20 years before - the unsolved killing of a troubled young man in an alley used for drug deals.

Why did John Jack keep the murder book?
Revisado: 11-17-23
I missed the answer to the question posed near the beginning of the story. At the end, Bosch saying he’s going to go talk to the widow. Ballard says, will you tell her. TELL HER WHAT! If there was mention earlier in the book about the answer to Why John Jack took the murder book, it happened so fast I missed it. It was the first time I have been unhappy with the Michael Connelly book.

Historia
History has lied. Anne Boleyn has been sold to us as a dark figure, a scheming seductress who bewitched Henry VIII into divorcing his queen and his church in an unprecedented display of passion. Quite the tragic love story, right? Wrong. In this electrifying exposé, Hayley Nolan explores for the first time the full, uncensored evidence of Anne Boleyn’s life and relationship with Henry VIII, revealing the shocking suppression of a powerful woman.

Finally a fair & Balanced portrayal
Revisado: 11-12-23
Finally a fair & Balanced portrayal of a woman that has been maligned for centuries. It was so refreshing to hear of Anne Boleyn as a person with good and bad character traits. At long last someone doesn’t just repeat the vicious stereotype of a controlling evil woman.

The first time I was bored by a holocaust story
Revisado: 09-19-18
I have been reading books about the holocaust since I was a teenager and this is the first time I was bored by the story. The author, I thought, was incapable of describing the terror and horror of the events. It felt more like a laundry list of actions. I had no connection to the story, as the author didn’t wasn’t able to transport you to that time and what was happening. The narrator had no hope of saving it, as the words were so wooden. I did not finish the book. Again a first for me, based on the subject matter.

I was bored at the beginning and almost gave up. But it gets better as it goes along. The history of the time was interesting and the story was enjoyable. There were a few items left unexplained, but I was able to overlook them.

One night upon closing, he discovers a toddler in his children’s section with a note from her mother pinned to her Elmo doll: I want Maya to grow up in a place with books and among people who care about such kinds of things. I love her very much, but I can no longer take care of her.

Slow start, give it a chance
Revisado: 09-06-16
I almost gave up on this story. The beginning is confusing and AJ was a curmudgeon. At first I didn't like him. So glad I stuck with it. It became a unique and enchanting tale with many literary references. It teaches you to live life every day and love those you love. Take nothing for granted.

Eunsun Kim was born in North Korea, one of the most secretive and oppressive countries in the modern world. By the time she was 11 years old, Eunsun's father and grandparents had died of starvation, and Eunsun too was in danger of starving. Finally her mother decided to escape North Korea with Eunsun and her sister.
