Historia
Boston, 1868: The dawn of the Gilded Age, an era of burgeoning commerce and invention, of unimaginable new fortunes and lavish excess—for some. Born into dismal poverty, young Nell Sweeney scratches by on her wits and little else until fortune blesses her with a position as nursery governess to the fabulously wealthy Hewitts. But she soon learns that ugly secrets lurk beneath the surface of their gold-plated world.

I love Nell Sweeney!
Revisado: 09-05-14
I read this book in print when it was first released, and was excited to listen to the audio book now that it's finally available. The story is great and the characters quite likable, but the narration by newcomer Leigh Ryan is fantastic. I enjoyed her use of different voices for the characters - sometimes that can be annoying, but in this book it works well! The book grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let up until it's over. I can't wait for the remaining books in this six-book series to be released!

thoroughly enjoyed this book!
Revisado: 08-28-13
i loved the combination of romance and mystery in this book. the characters were very realistic and i found myself hoping situations would turn out a certain way. the narrator, who i've never heard prior to this book, is terrific. i especially enjoy when one narrator takes on multiple voices during a book and the narrator did it well. i knew it was a man speaking in a woman's voice, but it didn't detract from the book itself as has happened to me in the past. i'll be watching for more audiobooks from ms. ryan and more narrations from mr. dove.

Historia
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

Fantastic Narration
Revisado: 10-15-09
I loved this book!!! Having multiple narrators worked extremely well - it gave me a better picture of the characters. And the book itself - wow! I'm from NYC and came of age in the 60s. I never witnessed theses types of actions personally, but I know they existed. We can never forget that this happened and how terrible an era in our history this was...

Historia
Though Jack Kerouac began thinking about the novel that was to become On the Road as early as 1947, it was not until three weeks in April 1951 that he wrote the first full draft that was satisfactory to him. Typed out as one long, single-spaced paragraph on eight long sheets of tracing paper that he later taped together to form a 120-foot scroll, this document is among the most significant, celebrated, and provocative artifacts in contemporary American literary history.

amazing book
Revisado: 11-16-07
admittedly, on the road is probably my favorite book ever. i've read the originally-published print version five times. this reading of the scroll version is incredible - the narrator captures the spirit of the book perfectly. it flows with an energy that i think would impress jack and neal. i heard the narrator read excerpts in person, and the recording is just as good. i can't wait to read it again!
