Historia
Before Jennifer Egan, Louise Erdrich, Luis Alberto Urrea, and Jonathan Lethem became revered authors, they were readers. In this ebullient book, America’s favorite librarian Nancy Pearl and noted-playwright Jeff Schwager interview a diverse range of America's most notable and influential writers about the books that shaped them and inspired them to leave their own literary mark. The Writer’s Library is a revelatory exploration of the studies, libraries, and bookstores of today’s favorite authors.

Excellent book ruined by the terrible narration
Revisado: 05-23-24
The authors are terrible at narrating their own book and unfortunately the rest aren’t excellent either.

Beware Missing Chapter
Revisado: 11-26-22
I was partway through this audiobook when I noticed that entry #17, The Fifth Child by Doris Lessing, is missing. The audiobook jumps from Evil Under the Sun directly to The Ghost Writer. I returned this for now and will buy it again if the missing chapter is added back.

Historia
We humans like to think of ourselves as highly evolved creatures. But if we are supposedly evolution's greatest creation, why do we have such bad knees? Why do we catch head colds so often - 200 times more often than a dog does? How come our wrists have so many useless bones? And are we really supposed to swallow and breathe through the same narrow tube? Surely there's been some kind of mistake. As professor of biology Nathan H. Lents explains in Human Errors, our evolutionary history is nothing if not a litany of mistakes, each more entertaining and enlightening than the last.

Great until the epilogue
Revisado: 05-13-20
Great book until the author started rambling about alien life. It had nothing to do with the rest of the content. Still 4 stars because I loved it until the epilogue and the narrator was amazing throughout.

Historia
Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.
