Boring and narrator is bad
Revisado: 01-26-24
I had high hopes for this book and purchased it the day it came out on Audible. It was so boring. No plot and no really developed characters. It is about new real estate agent who is successful almost from the start. This is my least favorite of Pamela M. Kelley’s books. I’m glad that it wasn’t very long, because it was boring. I don’t know why Pamela keeps using Leslie Howard as her narrator. She narrates in a wistful manner the entire time. And she never changes her inflection. I would not recommend this book.

Historia
Nell St. John is not living the life she imagined for herself - not by a long shot. She was once a glamorous young actress married to influential director, Marlow St. John. Together, the A-list couple was the toast of the town. But then Marlow’s star fades and tensions at home skyrocket. Marlow takes up with another woman and abandons Nell, leaving her to pay the bills and raise their two boisterous young children. A string of attractive suitors is not the answer to her lack of fulfillment, but what is?

It drove me crazy that the narrator pronounced the word Boutique as BO tique rather than the correct pronunciation of BOO tique through the entire book. The main character works in a boutique so the word is used over and over again.

Historia
When Iris decides to move to New York to restart her life, she realizes she underestimated how big the Big Apple really is—all the nostalgic movies set in New York she’d watched with her mom while eating their special secret-recipe gelato didn’t quite do it justice. But Bobby, Iris’s best friend, isn’t about to let her hide away. He drags her to a famous autumn street fair in Little Italy, and as they walk through the food stalls, a little family-run gelateria catches her eye—could it be the same shop that’s in an old photo of her mother’s?

Tedious
Revisado: 11-22-23
Liked the premise. But, Iris’s hemming and hawing about her decision was drawn out for way too long. It became tedious to listen to her internal debate over and over.

Historia
Smarter and packing an attitude, not to mention her Glock, Madison Westin is back with her never-say-no style. This time trouble rolls into Tarpon Cove in the form of her ex-husband, Jackson Devereaux, whom she hoped to never see again. His arrival brings unparalleled chaos and an uninvited corpse. Teaming up with her hot friend, Fabiana, the two women go from chasing the usual cast of misfits and weirdos to hunting down a murderer. The action turns deadly serious when they stir up a nasty enemy as they try to stay one-step ahead in a game of cat and mouse that threatens their lives.

Poor Narrator for Male Characters
Revisado: 10-17-23
This was the second book I’ve listened to in this series. I was looking forward to listening to the rest of the series, but I think that I will have to read them. The narration was just terrible except for the voice of the main character. Fabiana sounds like she is stoned. None of the male characters sound like they are male. They just sound strange. I think I will read the rest of the series, rather than listen.

Historia
Not only do Southerners talk slowly, but sometimes the whole language is hard to understand. No one realizes that more than Memphis belle Leelee Satterfield. Watching her tackle life and love in Vermont was only the tip of the iceberg when it came to antics, charades, mischief, and romance. Now that she’s back in Memphis, and starting a new relationship with Peter, the Yankee chef from her New England inn, you’d think she’d sit back and enjoy her newly crafted life back home in Dixie. But that just wouldn’t be as much fun.

Author’s narration was awful. Riley and Peter sounded almost alike. The NJ accent was bad. Kissy’s voice wasn’t good either. If I hadn’t read the first 2 books I would have returned it.

Narrators can’t pronounce Naomi
Revisado: 12-25-20
You have a big problem when your narrators can’t pronounce the lead character’s name. Both narrators pronounce Naomi the correct way and also as Niomi in the same sentence. I got the predictable light storyline I wanted, but the narration was like nails on a chalkboard.
