Emotional and real….A story that pulls at your heart strings!
Revisado: 07-16-24
The second in a series addressing real life issues centered on grief, loss, trauma, family dynamics, and mental illness touched my heart. The author's use of dialogue feels so authentic in this story beautifully brought to life by the narrator's amazing performance..
Filled with anguish of a teen trying to cope in the face of adversity, this book details her process and growth, leading the reader to believe that we have the capacity to change, with the right guidance and help, and maybe even inspire others. Highly recommend this amazing story!

Historia
Seven-year-old Anna was smiling when she was given the news. It’s not that she misunderstood what she heard, but her smile froze as her brain stopped thinking and her breathing slowed. To her older sister Frances, Anna’s smile looked like one of ignorance and foolishness, but both were misconceptions. Anna’s smile was one of horror. She was the reason Liz would not be returning home.

Compelling and emotional!
Revisado: 06-20-24
With no ability to recognize the immediate crisis she faces, seventeen-year-old Anna defiantly resists efforts for help, resulting in hospitalization in a mental health unit. As the story flashes back more than a decade, five-year-old Anna begins to tell her story of life in a large family and continues through high school. The vivid descriptions and tiniest details told through the powerful first person POV hooked me, as many of the family traditions and mores of the time rang true.
This riveting account of her treatment, with pitfalls and successes, brought me to tears more than once. The writing captures the realistic emotions and behaviors that accompany such traumatic childhood experiences of death, loss, abandonment, and guilt. Highlighting the challenges facing young adults today, this compelling story underscores the need for mental health awareness more than ever. I connected with the characters, so well brought to life in the exceptionally skilled narration, and highly recommend this well-written coming-of-age story.

Have you ever felt like you’re never good enough? Do you feel like everything is your fault? Answering yes to these questions displays the awful side effects of narcissistic abuse. It’s these side effects that hold us back in life, keeping us frozen and insecure. As a therapist and a survivor of abuse myself, I know how you feel. I see you. The good news is that you can overcome limiting and toxic beliefs that were instilled by narcissists.

An informative, concise, and practical self-help guide
Revisado: 05-26-21
Full of specific information related to narcissistic relationships and how to heal from resulting toxic relationships. The author’s use of second-person point of view makes this more personal and is quite effective. I especially liked that the author wrote from her personal experience as well as her professional experience as a therapist. This book would be a great guide for anyone suffering from a narcissistic abusive relationship… Well done.
The narrator’s voice was soothing and calm and maintained my interest.

Just like you, I am not immune to Big Business Technologies. There are sophisticated, algorithmic means of why you and I are addicted. The problem is not in the degrading of us into political factions, or how we seem to waste more and more of our time online. They are problems, sure, but they are symptoms from the deeper disease. This book puts the illness out in the limelight, exposes what the Big Business Technologies won’t show you, and helps us arrive at practical solutions to make our lives and nations better.

Enlightening, eye-opening, and informative
Revisado: 05-23-21
I appreciated the author’s detailed introduction, which described the organization of the book, a helpful tool that kept me engaged. The author’s knowledge of a complex subject matter was clear, and his explanations of everyday examples of our usage of social media platforms facilitated understanding to the listener. Although I was aware of how the social media platforms obtain data from users, the author opened my eyes much wider to the extent that this occurs on a constant basis. His voice was calming and maintained my interest throughout. I think anyone who spends several hours a day on the internet would benefit from this book.
