Historia
Los Angeles is a city of stark contrast, the palaces of the affluent coexisting uneasily with the hellholes of the mad and the needy. That shadow world and the violence it breeds draw brilliant psychologist Dr. Alex Delaware and Detective Milo Sturgis into an unsettling case of altruism gone wrong.

too many "he said, I said's", and narrator pauses
Revisado: 04-24-23
I don't know if it's the narrator or the writing style, but it's too "technically correct" there is so much identifying who said what to even get fully into the story. The narrator pauses are distracting too. Just my opinion. After listening to James Lee Burk, and Recursion, and The Hotel Grand. This style is just not for me.

Be aware of “stupid writing.”
Revisado: 02-06-23
This is a pretty good story, pretty predictable, but a good story. Be aware of stupid writing though. Situations where you wonder if the characters have brains because of the obviously stupid decisions made. When you’re on the run, do you actually go to known places that your pursuers know about too, this revelation comes to you after the second instance that the bad guys show up? Does a woman in a skirt go out in snow that is knee deep?

Historia
The only sign of life for miles is an empty BMW. Inside the expensive car he finds clothes that fit perfectly, shoes for his tattered feet, a Rolex, and an auto registration in the name of Daniel Hayes, resident of Malibu, California. None of it is familiar. How did he get here? Who is he? Who was he? While he searches for answers, the world searches for him - beginning with the cops that kick in the door of his dingy motel with guns drawn. Lost and alone, the man who might be Daniel Hayes flees into the night. All he remembers is a woman’s face, so he sets off for the only place he might find her.

Women should thank Marcus Sakey
Revisado: 01-05-23
I've just realized Marcus Sakey is one of the very few authors who know how to write women characters that you can imagine being with. I love how he doesn't write them drama filled, stepping into stupid, redundant "whoa is me" dialogue. For a good while all you get from other authors, and even women authors is same ole damsel in distress by manipulation and sick sense of "this shit it normal."

Historia
John Wayne Cleaver is dangerous, and he knows it. He's obsessed with serial killers, but really doesn't want to become one. So for his own sake, and the safety of those around him, he lives by rigid rules he's written for himself, practicing normal life as if it were a private religion that could save him from damnation. Dead bodies are normal to John. They don't demand or expect the empathy he's unable to offer. Perhaps that's what gives him the objectivity to recognize that there's something different about the body the police have just found behind the Wash-n-Dry Laundromat - and to appreciate what that difference means.

The story, narration, pace, and interest are great. Just can't get past the kid being so overlooked when it WOULD be readily known.

Historia
A masterpiece of satire, this classic has entertained and enlightened readers the world over with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life and foibles from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below". At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C.S. Lewis gives us the correspondence of the worldly-wise old Devil to his nephew, Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man.

Historia
The world will end on Saturday. Next Saturday. Just before dinner, according to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing and everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.

In Zombies, the absurdity of both life and death are on full display as the best and brightest of a high school prep school become tragically addicted to the latest drug craze - electric shocks from cardiac defibrillators. Funny, caustic, bizarre, poignant - this story represents everything listeners have come to love and expect from Chuck Palahniuk.
