Historia
The power-hungry High Lord of Kalare has launched a rebellion against the aging First Lord, Gaius Sextus, who with the loyal forces of Alera must fight beside the unlikeliest of allies - the equally contentious High Lord of Aquitaine. Meanwhile, young Tavi of Calderon joins a newly formed legion under an assumed name even as the ruthless Kalare unites with the Canim, bestial enemies of the realm whose vast numbers spell certain doom for Alera.

Intense Battles and Good Story
Revisado: 10-08-19
Alera is more fleshed out each book as more of the world is exposed. Where the first book took place in the Calderon Valley and the next in 2 locations (the Capitol and the Valley) this one ranges further over Alera, giving an idea of the scope and struggles of keeping the nation semi unified. I don't want to say much more because oh boy it would give spoilers.
Kate Reading gave a wonderful performance, though I pity her throat after voicing the Canem.

Historia
For 1,000 years, the people of Alera have united against the aggressive and threatening races that inhabit the world, using their unique bond with the Furies - elementals of earth, air, fire, water, and metal. But now, the unity of the Alerians hangs in precarious balance.

Amazing Book
Revisado: 09-27-19
I made a bargain to read the first two Codex Alera books in exchange for a Dresden Files game.
I am now utterly invested in the series.
The issues with the horns/missing sections are resolved as I didn't experience those (I believe the book has been updated since those were published).
The story is very engaging and I can picture the scenes as they happen. I even sat in my car for half an hour once just to finish part!
