Historia
Diana Gabaldon’s magnificent historical saga, begun with Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber, continues with this New York Times bestseller. Set in the intriguing Scotland of 200 years ago, the third installment in the romantic adventures of Jamie and Claire is as compelling as the first.

I echo so many other comments about this series and the narrator whose insights into character create voices and intonations that make the listening excel in appreciation. I just downloaded the 4th book but this time I'm going to try to listen to a different book before I begin "Drums" if only to prolong the fact that at some point there will be an end to the series.

From start to finish I was transported to Frank's world and viewed the impact of his love and the mystery of his loss through his eyes. Poetry in metaphors. Excellent narration - he fit Frank to a tee. it is not often that I sit in the car unwilling to turn off my ipod when listening to a book. This was one of those times. I've now purchased her other two and can't wait to listen.

Historia
In a crumbling, isolated house at the foot of Mount Kanchenjunga lives an embittered old judge. He only wants to retire in peace, but then his orphaned granddaughter, Sai, arrives on his doorstep. The judge's chatty cook watches over her, but his thoughts are mostly with his son, Biju, who is hop-scotching from one New York restaurant job to another. A novel of depth and emotion, Desai's second, long-awaited novel fulfills the grand promise established by her first.

I listened for 5 hours and gave up. I had no sense of where this book was going - the characters were as uninteresting as the description of their everyday lives - Depressing. In the future I'll read more reviews before purchasing.

Historia
January 1946: London is emerging from the shadow of the Second World War, and writer Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book subject. Who could imagine that she would find it in a letter from a man she’s never met, a native of the island of Guernsey, who has come across her name written inside a book by Charles Lamb.... As Juliet and her new correspondent exchange letters, Juliet is drawn into the world of this man and his friends - and what a wonderfully eccentric world it is.

Surprising
Revisado: 05-24-09
I questioned the vehicle for the book and initially found it unstimulating. But in short order the readers and the story took hold. I found the characters engaging, the story both delightful, and uplifting. I think listening to this book with all the different 'voices' was probably a better read for me than a hardcopy would have been. By the end I felt that i knew everyone personally and the island. Nicely done

What a wonderful gift Julia Child left us when she agreed to work with her nephew to finally put into words her life in France. I could visualize Julia speaking throughout the book and smiled.

Historia
From the perilous ocean crossing to the shared bounty of the first Thanksgiving, the Pilgrim settlement of New England has become enshrined as our most sacred national myth. Yet, as best-selling author Nathaniel Philbrick reveals in his spellbinding new book, the true story of the Pilgrims is much more than the well-known tale of piety and sacrifice; it is a 55-year epic that is at once tragic, heroic, exhilarating, and profound.

Revisado: 07-21-06
By the time I had listened to only the prologue this book had my full attention! As a former elementary teacher I hope that future history books will include the perspective and the facts presented here. Young people need the to know the background of their national heritage to be better informed for opinions in their adult futures. As it stands now - that doesn't exist in our schools. A Wonderful and enlightening book with a captivating narration.

Historia
In 1864, after Union general William Tecumseh Sherman burned Atlanta, he marched his sixty thousand troops east through Georgia to the sea, and then up into the Carolinas. The army fought off Confederate forces and lived off the land, pillaging the Southern plantations, taking cattle and crops for their own, demolishing cities, and accumulating a borne-along population of freed blacks and white refugees until all that remained was the dangerous transient life of the uprooted, the dispossessed, and the triumphant.

I listened to the March on a 5 hour drive to Charleston And couldn't wait to get back into my car to continue with this moving, powerful and insightful novel. The narrator fit the book to a T. I likened the experience to watching a Ken Burns' documentary and was sorry to see it end.
