Historia
Tired of arguing with your spouse over the same old issues? Longing for a marriage with less conflict and more intimacy? Struggling under a load of resentment? In How We Love, relationship experts Milan and Kay Yerkovich draw on the powerful tool of attachment theory to show how your early life experiences created an "intimacy imprint" - an underlying blueprint that shapes your behavior, beliefs, and expectations of all relationships, especially your marriage.

this book will change your life
Revisado: 11-28-22
Diifferent than other attachment theory books, the Christian perspective in this book takes you from "this is just how you are" to hope and an understanding that these are sinful ways of relating to others and that that is why they cause harm. We were never meant to relate to each other in painful ways, and we are meant to strive for how God intended for us to relate, with His help! For me, the "anxious" attachment style has been helpful to read about in the past, but reading about the vacillator style was so much more life changing. Generally not a believer of personality tests, I was shocked that something described all of my struggles so well.

Historia
This Too Shall Last offers an antidote to our cultural idolatry of effort and ease. Through personal story and insights from neuroscience and theology, Ramsey invites us to let our tears become lenses of the wonder that before God ever rescues us, he stands in solidarity with us. We are all mid-story in circumstances we did not choose, wondering when our hard things will end and where grace will come if they don’t. We don't need to make suffering a before-and-after story.

not super original but some good nuggets
Revisado: 09-29-22
2/3 in this book had some really good insight. otherwise, it reads like a journal entry with insights that strike me as really only significant to the author or that are easily found in other works. I don't really recommend it except to maybe others struggling with long term debilitating illness. I am not one of those people, and so I will admit it is probably most impactful to those who share this experience with the author.

annoying narrator

narrator's voice was pretty grating and at times monotone. the story is good and appeared to be well researched.

The only thing I wish there was more of is perspective from the actors themselves.
