Historia
A new world order has come. Society as we know it is no longer. Religion, politics, entertainment, and consumerism do not exist. All are equal, all are the same. No color, no gender, no difference. The human brain is rewired to rid itself of all nasty emotions, all preferences, and all nonconformity. A young girl on the brink of losing herself to this society that condemns and exterminates human emotions is thrust into a war she didn't know existed.

Interesting concept
Revisado: 06-30-22
The concept of this book was so interesting. It gave of some Hunger Games vibes mixed in with some controversial topics that mix with modern-day current events. I wish there was more depth given to the backstory and the details were more prevalent throughout the book. There is so much potential here, but it felt like I was listening to a summarized version of it, leaving out all of the descriptions that allowed me to visualize the story being told. The evolving relationship between Francisco and Alexandra was a hard one to get on board with. I sure hope the cliffhanger ending means that there is a sequel in the works.

Touching story
Revisado: 04-29-22
It’s a story we’ve all heard before, but hearing it from this young woman‘s point of view was especially touching. I liked seeing how she grew to love and respect her new grandfather. Her courage and tenacity throughout her tribulations was endearing. This is an upsetting part of history that needs to be shared and cannot be forgotten.

Historia
Christianity is declining rapidly, and Christians are actively deconstructing their core beliefs. If Christianity does not change, millions of people will continue to be traumatized by bad Christian business models and tens of thousands of churches will close their doors over the next decade. Rather than destroy Christianity, deconstruction can save it. Christianity Without Dogma was created to help people think through this more systematically. Without dogma, more people will be able to flourish spiritually, and deconstructed churches may even be able to start growing again.

Very helpful
Revisado: 02-14-22
I really appreciated how this audiobook gave different points of view on religion. Because religion can be such an uncomfortable topic to discuss, it it is nice to be able to read about people’s true thoughts and experiences. It did not feel like I was just being talked at but like I was part of a conversation. I was very please with the narrator of this book. I feel like he really brought the listening experience to life. I would recommend this to anyone who feels like they are curious or want to be a part of Christianity but aren’t exactly feeling or matching up with how it’s playing out in society.

Great for any 80's lover
Revisado: 12-04-21
I grew up in the tail end of the Hair Band era, so some of this book really resonated with me. Brought back a lot of memories and had me reminiscing...just like the story! I am certain that if I read the book I would not have enjoyed it as much as I did listening to it. I found the narrating to really enhance the story and kept me enthralled. This is a definite good listen for anyone, but especially if you want to re-live your 80's hay days.

Historia
Very few people know about the childhood trauma Kevin endured long ago in western New York. At first glance, he appears as an average engineer — with a loving wife, two amazing children, and a stable job. As Kevin digs deep into his memories, lingering doubts plague him as to whether a young girl he once knew survived the horrors — or fell to a tragic fate.

three stars
Revisado: 10-28-21
It was clear that the author had a difficult childhood and painful upbringing that had a significant effect on him well into his adult years. This was a great testament to therapy and the progress that can be achieved in doing the work. This book came across more as a therapeutic exercise rather than a memoir, and I would note that while making a recommendation.

The God Matrix is a spiritual thriller that blends mystery, suspense, military intrigue, and maybe even Alien abductions, with spiritual principles and quantum physics. It will captivate you and keep you on the edge of your seat, as you are swept up in an adventure that leaves you wondering at the truth of you own existence, and even more so, wondering whether the story is indeed fact or fiction.

I don’t think ‘spiritual’ and ‘thriller’ are two words you hear used together often, but in this book, it certainly is the case! And I would say it was a bit more spiritual than religious, particularly any specific religion. The story was fast paced and kept me interested. The narration was great as well. Fascinating premise.

Being Rob Crawley’s old lady requires an inner strength that Tina Douglas lacks. The perfect, red Mary Magdalene rose inked on the nape of her neck becomes a touchstone in times of stress and anxiety, which are many. Tina views her future as bleak and dire and sees herself trapped “in a web of her own making”.

Four stars
Revisado: 05-13-21
Tina got mixed up in a terrible relationship at a young age and her bad luck and poor relationships just continued. The story weaves through a lot of dramatic and traumatic events. So much of the story seems so sad but also quite relatable as well. There’s some mature and possibly triggering content, but it is well written. The narrator for the audiobook did a great job. I breezed through this entire audiobook and less than two days!

Great read
Revisado: 04-29-21
This was a great audiobook! A young French woman weds, eager for a happy marriage, only to find out her husband isn’t anything like she expected. She is seen merely as a possession and when she can’t fulfill the role he has intended for her, she is cast out in an awful fashion. As she tries to return to her family She is betrayed over and over, but is still determined to find people to trust in hope that they help her. This audiobook went by so quickly and I really enjoyed the story.

Historia
This beautifully constructed family saga spans three generations set all within the macabre world of the civil war era American funeral industry where weepers, warners, death photographers and the new practice of embalming the dead dwelled. For generations, the women of the Fenn family have been traditional “weepers”; paid mourners who attend wakes and weep for the dead. Their counterparts, the men of the True family, are undertakers, or “warners.”

Great story, great narration
Revisado: 04-03-21
This was quite the clever book. I knew next to nothing about this ‘world’ before listening to this audiobook. I’ve vaguely heard references to weepers but didn’t understand the extent of the whole story surrounding them. I thoroughly enjoyed the narrator of the book. The voices, the accents, everything was wonderful. I read some historical fiction but not a lot during these times and wasn’t sure that it would be that appealing but I really enjoyed the different settings and the background given. Both families were full of deep and interesting character whose stories had many levels. This was a great book and think I would prefer listening to it in audiobook versus reading just because the narrator did such a wonderful job.

In Nobody Eats Parsley: And Other Things I Learned from My Family, David Oakley ushers us front and center to the inner circus of his family life. These are stories so ridiculous, you might think they‘re fiction. They‘re not. If you‘re looking for the antidote to 2020 - look no further. Each chapter is filled with hilarious true events from David‘s world, and there‘s a nice life lesson "takeaway" from each.

A funny one.
Revisado: 02-05-21
This audiobook was good for a few laughs. Several of the stories were quite relatable. I liked that each bit was broken down into a chapter so I could break up the listening easily without losing my place or plan to listen for just a chapter or two when I didn’t have a lot of time. The storytelling is reminiscent of a comedy show... A bit exaggerated or over the top at times but it all came together in the end to make a good story.
