I have been enjoying the Alaskan security books for a while now. they are a really fun series. so much so that I wanted to move to Alaska. my husband had to remind me that I am happily married and these guys are fictional.
Jason is one of my favorite narrators. his voice makes me melt. so hearing him bring this book to life was an absolute treat for me ❤️

the fact that this story lacks the traditional 3 act structure is annoying, but I can see where the author was trying to go with it. there are some strange continuity errors, like in one scene the heroine (storm) is standing upon the battlements boldly displaying a naked leg and kissing her lover's brother, in the next she is unlacing her shirt to distract a guard, and in the next scene she is being discrbed as "shy and virginal".
i can forgive those things
what I can NOT forgive is her depiction of rape/attempted rape as: not the man's fault because the woman is just too sexy. forgivable, because men cant stop once they start going and women are just to sexy to resist sometimes. and an acceptable way to "woo ones wife".
I was so shocked at what I was hearing that I had to listen to it a second time to make sure I wasn't misunderstanding!
I will not be listening to or buying anymore books by this author!

I love that Jeannine doesn't use the same tired boring story for each of her books (unlike some anthers). She has given Vlad his own unique tale to tell. She did her own research and based him on the real Vlad the impaler instead of using “Dracula” as her base. This book is a must read for fans of the Night Huntress world!

I found these books at a young age, in truth my mother was right to take them away and hide them...but from the first page I was in love. I am head over heel for Jamie Fraser! I used to stay up way past bed time, ducking under the covers with a flashlight to read this series so my mother couldn't try to hide them on me again! It was wonderful getting to know Jamie and Clair again...like having a LONG chat with old friends. I understand so much more than I did then...exploring the books in ways that my twelve year old mind couldn't comprehend back then. I recommend the Outlander series to every one who enjoys paranormal or historical romances!
