Always a classic
Revisado: 03-01-24
I’ve loved these books forever, it’s so cool to hear it as an audiobook. I really enjoyed the narrator and I think the story stands up regardless of other reviews claiming it “doesn’t age so well”. I mean it’s a fantasy universe. Sure there’s some “inequality” with men and women and a lot of rough sexuality but the way is done is something I’ve always liked. It’s ok to read books and listen to stories that aren’t entirely politically correct anymore. It makes you think. Makes you feel. I think that is a good thing. These are great books, a fun read. If you like the idea of dragon riders, you will like these books.

I really wanted to like this
Revisado: 03-01-24
I went into this one really wanting to like it. Had sort of read some of the plot line before buying and it definitely seemed up my alley. It’s a good book but I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more when I was a teenager vs now in my 30s. Just ended up feeling like a bit of a lighter sci fi read. Fun story, great ideas just didn’t hit home for me as I think I was expecting a dark space horror epic adventure thing. Maybe I went in with the wrong perceptions. Would definitely recommend for young adults/teens.

Historia
Born Princess Vanessa of Atlantica, the ambitious young royal was one of two children born to the great King Poseidon. She and her brother, Triton, were groomed from birth to rule. Yet only one would ascend that coveted throne. While carefree Triton flits through his training with a cavalier demeanor and beguiling charm, Vanessa’s hunger for her father’s acceptance drives her to push herself to the limits of magic and to combat to become a leader worthy of her people. When war against the humans ravages their once regal kingdom, political sides are chosen.

Wonderful mermaid story
Revisado: 10-24-21
I’m a sucker for mermaid books and it’s hard to find ones that aren’t just sappy love stories. I tend to go for horror type books etc. I was not sure about this at first, thinking it would be Disney-esque. While it has the characters it’s nothing like a child’s story. There is depth to each character and all together this is a great story. Definitely a fantastic listen I was hanging onto every word. My only disappointment is that there isn’t a sequel!!!

Historia
When the Imagine Network commissioned a documentary on mermaids, to be filmed from the cruise ship Atargatis, they expected what they had always received before: an assortment of eyewitness reports that proved nothing, some footage that proved even less, and the kind of ratings that only came from peddling imaginary creatures to the masses.

Too short
Revisado: 10-01-21
I should have paid attention to the length of this. Was really excited to listen, then suddenly disappointed it was already over. Mostly takes place on the ship with mermaid preformers. The other book is better.
