If like me, you're a person that enjoys the original personalities of the characters there is a high probability you won't like this book. Although the writing in itself is good, the characters all behave completely against who they are causing some painful scenarios. The narrator's performance was great, but I had the hardest time trying to get through this book and could not finish it. Judging by the other reviews there is an audience for this type of story, but unfortunately it wasn't me.

Lovely story

I loved the story and really felt for the characters. It’s very well written. I thoroughly enjoyed this and as a avid amateur baker I will be listening to it again. Don’t listen to this hungry.

Wish it was longer

Very cute story. I wish I had more time with these characters. The male narrator is great but the female narrator takes some warming up to. Over all they did great.

Great story but..

I loved this story and concept but the main character, although awesome at first, she took a down turn in later chapters. I think theres a cultural disconnect on my side? I consume a lot of English media, but I felt like I misunderstood her and couldn’t not understand why she kept on making the same mistake. I understand there was trauma and a lot going on, but to not talk to someone or reach out for help?? Especially when it puts others in danger. I was stressed. The book is very good but felt a little too long. Over all the story itself and the minor characters kept me hooked. Worth a listen for that alone.

Amazing characters

Although I did not like the way the story ended, I enjoyed the book very much. The characters are so well written and their lives are so compelling that I found myself tearing up several times. Definitely worth it. Super sweet clean story about a loving family overcoming issues.

Great Story

I love Pride and Prejudice and I wanted to find retelling and variations and this one was great. The writer has her own style that can compare to Miss Austen. This book stands on its own and would make sense to someone who has never read Pride and Prejudice and still goes well with the original story.
The narrator was great.
I really love to replay this as I work.

Lovely story and characters

I listened to this in the span of two days. This was great. The characters were well rounded and felt like real people. The story was interesting and entertaining. The writing was one of the best I’ve come across.
Can’t say enough about the performance as well. She was a perfect fit for the book.
The is really a hidden gem.

Not P&P

I know this is just a variation, but it’s far too different. The characters are completely different. It’s like a romance novel in the regency era sprinkled with P&P character names. I tried to give it a shot, but between the story line and some voices, I was thrown completely off. Over all the reading was fine though.
There is a thing that happens in the book that was the final straw for me and I just could not go on. I should have known since it’s taken me over a week just to get close to the half way on the book. I cannot force myself to finish it.
If you are looking for a slightly cleaner version of a harlequin novel set in the regency era, this is for you.
This is not what I was looking for or want.
