Fast, but informative
Revisado: 08-31-17
Where does My Life with Deth rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
In terms of all the autobiography books I've listened to, I'd give this one 3.5 stars. It is informative, deep, and honest. On the other hand, it is read by David at 1.2x speed. I thought for a moment I had my speed setting too high. However, it is very enjoyable, and would listen to it again.
What did you like best about this story?
His honesty, depth, and as always - David just being David.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I can only assume the fast reading was a bit due to his inexperience. Otherwise, he read his book very well, and I enjoyed it.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I finished it in two days. Loved it.

Historia
Gene Wilder is one of the great comic actors who defined the 1970s and 1980s in movies. From his work with Woody Allen, to the rich group of movies he made with Mel Brooks, to his partnership on screen with Richard Pryor, Wilder's performances are still discussed and celebrated today.

Short, but great
Revisado: 08-25-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Kiss Me Like a Stranger to be better than the print version?
Yes, because it's Gene after all
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
When you look at the running time, this is a short book. Because it is so good I would have loved for it to be longe, as again, it's Gene Wilder.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
His relationships with his wives. His experiences really influenced me in a what to do and what not to do way.

Historia
I'm the Man is the fast-paced, humorous, and revealing memoir from the man who co-founded Anthrax, the band that proved to the masses that brutality and fun didn't have to be mutually exclusive. Through various lineup shifts, label snafus, rock 'n' roll mayhem, and unforeseen circumstances galore, Scott Ian has approached life and music with a smile, viewing the band with deadly seriousness while recognizing the ridiculousness of the entertainment industry.

In depth
Revisado: 08-25-17
Where does I'm the Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Comparing this to other Metal bios this is one of the best. Mustaine's book, for example, was all war stories I've heard over the last 30 years. This book gets into the real meat of his history and would put it up there with some of the best history books I've read.
What about Scott Ian’s performance did you like?
The Fifty-Year Mission, which is a long Star Trek biography. The detail, depth, and perspective is second to none in those two books. Scott Ian covering his own history is equally as deep.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Scott's performance overall. I'd put his narration up there with Michael Caine's autobiography.

A very special book
Revisado: 07-31-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Ready Player One to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version, but I'm very impressed with Wil Wheaton's interpretation and narration of the book. His performance in Red Shirts was a little bit rushed, but is this performance is up there with the greats. It is very clear he worked his ass off to give us a wonderful experience.
What other book might you compare Ready Player One to and why?
I would compare this book to "The Martian" in that it has gripped me for a moment one, and due to its sheer addiction factor of being so well written, I finished this just as quickly.
What does Wil Wheaton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
It is a very well rounded performance with each character coming alive, and retaining their unique traits. As I mentioned above, it is very clear he worked very hard, and it shows. I will say the one thing that makes him reading it feel very special is that he is kind of an "ambassador" of the 80s. He was there, boots on the ground, contributing to the very thing he is reading about. The only thing that feels even more surreal is Spielberg directing the movie, which has the same affect of bringing a book to life that references a very specific period of history that you yourself are largely contributed to
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely. This book had me from moment one. But like Johnny Five in the second Short Circuit movie, I wish I could read this book slowly like he did with those two books he got from the bookstore to better understand his humanity.
Any additional comments?
This book, if anything, managed to perfectly identify for me the unresolved issue of whether Ladyhawke was a good movie or not. Specifically me trying to understand why I like certain aspects of it, and hated other aspects of it. Equally, this book makes me want to wear my love for Highlander 2 proudly on my sleeve. In all seriousness though, as a child of the 80s, I spent thousands upon thousands of hours dedicating my life to so many of the topics addressed in this book. The movies, comic books, video games, and of course my falling in love with engineering at a very young age. It's not that I feel this book was written for me, but it makes the child in me who had to go at it all alone feel like I was surrounded by like-minded people back then, with this book bringing us all together in the here and now (old and new generation alike).

At first, only a few things are known about the celestial object that astronomers dub Rama. It is huge, weighing more than ten trillion tons. And it is hurtling through the solar system at inconceivable speed. Then a space probe confirms the unthinkable: Rama is no natural object. It is, incredibly, an interstellar spacecraft. Space explorers and planet-bound scientists alike prepare for mankind's first encounter with alien intelligence.

Good old school Clark
Revisado: 07-30-17
Would you listen to Rendezvous with Rama again? Why?
Possibly. The performances were good, and because this is some old school Clark, there is a lot of science I'd like to hear again.
If you’ve listened to books by Arthur C. Clarke before, how does this one compare?
There are two categories of Clark books. Old Clark and New Clark. His older books are more science driven, with the story wrapped around it. Then there are the newer books with the science wrapped around a strong story.
If I were comparing this to older style books, I'd say this is one of his best.

How a Star Wars book should be
Revisado: 02-10-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Star Wars: Ahsoka to be better than the print version?
I would. The narrator gives an A+ performance, and the production put in behind her voice is very good quality.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Star Wars: Ahsoka?
The fact that stayed on point, and didn't do the usual Star Wars book formula:
-The A Plot, Ahsoka, was always in the forefront.
-The B plot was connected to the A plot, and was used sparingly.
-We didn't have to have the usual fate worse then death ending that other books, games, etc.. like to use.
What about Ashley Eckstein’s performance did you like?
Just about everything. This is the Ahsoka we all know and enjoy.

Vader goes camping
Revisado: 01-09-17
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It was entertaining, but nothing ground breaking. As I've come to get used to in a lot of the contemporary Star Wars books, but the main plot often gets pushed aside for the side story B plot.
Would you recommend Lords of the Sith: Star Wars to your friends? Why or why not?
It's a good read, and worth a listen.
Have you listened to any of Jonathan Davis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have, and I feel this is spot on. The emperor's cadence is menacing, Vader done very well, and the other characters come to life as they should.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
It would make a good Clone Wars/Rebels two-part episode.

Well balanced
Revisado: 10-22-16
Would you listen to Captain to Captain again? Why?
I would. It's a well written story that captures the original series crew, while peppering in the last fifty years over Trek canon very tastefully. It does a great job of focusing on what makes the original series so much fun, but also rewarding the reader for all the shows/movies we've seen since.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It would be very easy to. It plays out like a long original series episode, with very well done exposition.

If you could sum up The Count of Monte Cristo in three words, what would they be?
Well Timed Revenge
What about Bill Homewood’s performance did you like?
I big shoutout to reddit /r/audiobooks for this recommendation. To settle in for a 52 hour book, that was my summer 2016, I wasn't sure version to get from Audible. Thankfully the folks on reddit presented both narrators, and why I would like/dislike one of the other.
To my ears, it was a great performance that really brought the human experience up close.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This was my first time reading/listening to it, and it is undeniably timeless.
Any additional comments?

My favorite Odyssey
Revisado: 06-23-16
If you could sum up 2061: Odyssey Three in three words, what would they be?
I really enjoyed Odyssey three, with Heywood Floyd being one of my favorite characters from 2010. Having a chance to follow him on another adventure was a real pleasure.
Did Scott Brick do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Scott Brick is a hard narrator for me to follow. His reading style, in all the books he has read, always have this beaten-down-give-up-on-life tone to them.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Hmm. It is such a good story that even Scott Brick's depressive, sigh infused tone, can't bring it down.
