Historia
"I had never planned to become a savanna baboon when I grew up; instead, I had always assumed I would become a mountain gorilla," writes Robert Sapolsky in this witty and riveting chronicle of a scientist's coming-of-age in remote Africa. An exhilarating account of Sapolsky's twenty-one-year study of a troop of rambunctious baboons in Kenya, A Primate's Memoir interweaves serious scientific observations with wry commentary about the challenges and pleasures of living in the wilds of the Serengeti-for man and beast alike.

Unfortunate narrator
Revisado: 07-29-24
Sapolsky is awesome, but the narrator is rather unfortunate. Cadence isn't great, and their voice is kinda grating.

Historia
Our species has amassed unprecedented knowledge of nature, which we have tried to use to seize control of life and bend the planet to our will. In A Natural History of the Future, biologist Rob Dunn argues that such efforts are futile. We may see ourselves as life’s overlords, but we are instead at its mercy. In the evolution of antibiotic resistance, the power of natural selection to create biodiversity, and even the surprising life of the London Underground, Dunn finds laws of life that no human activity can annul.

Detailed and worth it
Revisado: 09-09-22
The narrator was good. Dunn's text, while some claim it's overly detailed, is an important analysis of where we've been and where we could be going.

one of the author's core beliefs is that women's biology causes them to be less capable of being successful in science and technology careers.
