Good story, bad narration
Revisado: 01-25-22
I’ve listened to the first 5 books and I really like the story. I should have read the books though. Just an fyi, if you’re going to listen to the audiobooks, prepare for a terrible performance. Every word is over acted and super dripping with too much emotion. It’s very annoying but I still listened to them so idk what that says about me lol.

Great with one flaw!
Revisado: 02-09-21
I love this entire series of books. I’ve listened to them all and everything is an A+ for me with one exception. The sound effects. This series is full of loud noises and background sound effects as opposed to just the narrator. I don’t know why they did this but it’s extremely annoying. Of the hundreds of audiobooks I’ve listened to this series is the only one I’ve come across that does this. Otherwise it’s a great story. Would recommend!

Revisado: 11-28-20
Well this was a disappointment. I thought the movie was terrible but this sequel makes me think it wasn’t that bad after all. I thought Spielberg destroyed the first book but this sequel is so bad Cline destroyed it himself. Maybe he should spend less time with Spielberg before he writes again. Armada was really bad and he basically took all the bad stuff from that book and put it into this one. There is such a thing as too many callbacks to the 80’s. And half of this book has references to such obscure games and movies that it wasn’t enjoyable because I had no clue what he was talking about. At least the first book had universal references for the most part like Pac-Man and Blade Runner. I was lost for most of this book. When every other sentence is a quote from an 80’s movie or a lyric from a song it gets to be too much. I’m 48 and a professional musician and gamer and I was still lost for a lot of this. This sequel really wasn’t intended for the same audience as the first. Too bad cause the first book is one of my all time favorite books. But then again since I loved it so much how could I not read the sequel which I expect most will.

He went too far
Revisado: 10-20-20
I enjoyed the first book a lot so I started this one. The author does a good job creating worlds and I have no gripe about the majority of the work. He does however go WAY too far with a disgusting murder sequence involving male genitalia which was in no way sexual but disturbingly gross and unnecessarily descriptive. I watch horror movies aplenty and am not easily shaken but this made me put the book down and stop reading anything from Kong again. It was too much for a fantasy novel. Hell, it would be too much for a Stephen King novel. I really don’t recommend this series or this author.

Martin and his friends discovered that their world is computer generated and that by altering the code they could alter reality. They traveled back in time to Medieval England to live as wizards. Almost everything they've done since then has, in one way or another, blown up in their faces. So of course they decide to make dragons. It does not go well.

Worst of the series
Revisado: 11-17-19
I love this series. Especially the first 3 books. I don’t know what happened with this one. Maybe he had a deadline to meet or something but this one you can skip. It’s not funny, interesting or engaging at all. Just boring. After this I still don’t know what happened that was relevant. Hopefully the next one will be better. A LOT better!

Shockingly Disgusting!!!
Revisado: 10-15-19
This is horrific! X rated do not allow children to read this. I was enjoying this series until about halfway through this book when the most terrible description of torture was described. Slowly describing in detail sawing a mans genitals and privates off and stuffing them into his mouth while he is helpless and has to endure the agony is almost worse than a Stephen King novel. This series has gone from fantasy entertainment to basic gore and horror. I’m done with this dudes books.

Zack Lightman has never much cared for reality. He vastly prefers the countless science-fiction movies, books, and videogames he's spent his life consuming. And too often, he catches himself wishing that some fantastic, impossible, world-altering event could arrive to whisk him off on a grand spacefaring adventure.

Did not enjoy this at all
Revisado: 05-14-15
This book is incredibly boring. By the time stuff started happening towards then, I didn't really care. There are so many better novels that I've read that I am surprised this actually got published. I ONLY read fantasy novels and this story is very sub par to almost everything I've read in the last 10 years. I had to force myself to finish it. I won't be reading the sequel.

Great story, bad voice acting
Revisado: 01-20-15
The kender is Australian? The officer in Solace is a cowboy? I don't know if Margaret Weis agreed to the accents used by the narrator, but I think these were horrible decisions. It totally ruins the fantasy of Dragonlance novels for me. I've been reading Dragonlance since 1986 (well over 30 novels) and these accents ruin my listening experience. I definitely prefer some of the other performances to this chick. I had to grit my teeth just to finish listening to this, but I did cause I love Weis and pretty much everything she does.
