I should have believed the other reviews. There was nothing to gain for the time I invested.

I am on my 6th listen through the whole book. It is such good information that bridges different health issues and highlights that so many professionals and regulatory 'experts' are ignorant of the drug and food effects on mitochondria.

My own work on the nutritional value and health healing qualities of wild foods, particularly those of the world's longest living culture (the Indigenous Australians), links with mitochondrial health.

Thanks Lee and Madison. You will be referenced often.

To be fair, nutritional science is moving forward as fast as computing science, renewable energy and other new sciences (yes, nutrition is still only 6 weeks of elective subjects for medical students and covered in Year 1 of a 15 year program).

However, there is a complete lack of understanding of the falling nutritional value of produce today; that our taste drives that push us to hidden hunger; of the relevance of phytonutrients to health; and the importance of our microbiome and the gut-brain links.

You get this sort of information in the weekly women's magazines and rubbish online sites and it is 5 years or more behind true nutritional understanding.

I was expecting information I could use in email sales letters and sales funnels but this was soooo outdated they were talking about lumpy mail. I am a Dan Kennedy fan but this book needs a 5th edition to be anywhere relevant in today's marketing world.

The boring reading style makes this a definite return. I couldn't get through it even though I tried a few times to see if there were any gems of information. I couldn't find any.

What made the experience of listening to The Fat Switch the most enjoyable?

The revelation and relevance of fructose as the sugar that turns on the fat switch and how our modern food supply is preparing us for hibernation rather than sustaining us for ideal health.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Fructose is the bad guy, Just wait. It won't be long and everyone will be talking about good sugars and bad sugars in the same way as good and bad fats are becoming familiar to us now.

Have you listened to any of Brian Holsopple’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He struggles with some of the biochemical terms but it's no big deal.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It is a work of non-fiction and as such, was an eye-opener in so far as the new insights and discoveries presented and how they extend the field of nutritional science into new areas of knowledge.

Any additional comments?

The major omission is the relevance of antioxidants and anti-inflammatories which moderate insulin and leptin resistance, ameliorate metaflammation and have a significant influence on nutrition as well as improving the success of low carb, high protein dieting regimes.
