Historia
A different place - another time - and where the city’s streets keep secrets and shadowy mysteries, SFPD Inspector Spencer Ricci needs to dig through after he finds himself on a case involving a dismembered, mummified man in a restaurant’s locked storage room. Spencer drags around a lot of baggage, including an ongoing battle with the bottle and a long career as an LAPD detective he’d set fire to in a blaze of booze-soaked mistakes.

Love me some Rhys Ford
Revisado: 01-11-24
I love Rhys’ work. I stumbled across this book not realizing it was a quick read with the end suggesting more to come. Hope I’m right about that. Highly recommend anything Rhys writes.

Beautiful writing
Revisado: 12-04-23
I just love Harper Fox’s writing. She manages to weave such a beautiful, spiritual love story that has such reverence for the land it makes the reader weep. Hamish Long’s narration was an immersive experience the cadence was just right and at times the synergy of Harper’s words and Hamish’s style was just sublime.
This is a romance set in the northeast coast of Britain in 687AD. it describes the journey of Cai a monk/physician and Fen a Viking raider. It seems implausible yet it works. I highly recommend this and just about any of her other books.

Great start
Revisado: 06-04-23
I’ve read a few of C.S. Poe’s books and I love her work. I especially love how she immersed us into Sebastian Snow’s world with his medical condition called achromatopsia.
It’s a brilliant educational experience about Edgar Allen Poe, the New York Public Library and lots more.
The relationship building between Seb and Cal is off to a sizzling start and has definite potential to be off the charts as we continue through the rest of the series.

Superb narration. Intense, visually evocative, sublimely perfect story. I would love to see where Maddygirl and Jervaulx are 1 year later. It’s too good of a story to leave behind.

Historia
Scandal has rocked the city of London. Colin Eversea, a handsome, reckless unapologetic rogue is sentenced to hang for murder and, inconveniently for him, the only witness to the crime disappears. Then again, throughout history, the Everseas have always managed to cheat fate in style: Colin is snatched from the gallows by a beautiful, clever mercenary. Cool-headed, daring Madeleine Greenway is immune to Colin's vaunted charm. Her mission is not to rescue Colin but to kidnap him, and to be paid handsomely for it.

Such a fun wild dash through the streets of London ending up in Pennyroyal Green. It’s deliciously descriptive and will have you rooting for Mad and Colin. Great plot twist at the end. Definitely worth the listen, Justine Eyre is a favorite of mine.

Historia
When grief-stricken scientist Sir Edward Fitzwilliam provokes public scorn by defending a sham spiritualist, he’s forced to retreat to Porthkennack to lick his wounds. Ward’s reputation is in tatters, but he’s determined to continue the work he began after the death of his beloved brother. In Porthkennack, Ward meets Nicholas Hearn, land steward to the Roscarrock family. Ward becomes convinced that Nick, whose Romany mother was reportedly clairvoyant, is the perfect man to assist with his work. But Nick—who has reason to distrust the whims of wealthy men—is loath to agree.

Powerful audio performance
Revisado: 10-30-22
This is an outstanding audio performance, I especially loved Simon Goldhill’s raspy interpretation of Sir Edward Fitzwilliam’s voice. It’s so jarring that very often it took me a while to adjust whenever Sir Edward spoke.
This book is set in Cornwall and tells the tale of one of the Roscarrock family.
It focuses on class and privilege, and what it feels like to not really belong and how grief leaves us hollow.
I read anything Joanna Chambers writes. She is highly talented and understands the need for community and a safe place to belong.
Highly recommend this book.

Toby never meant to be a highway robber, but needs must. He didn’t plan to impersonate a top London valet either, but when the chance comes to present himself as the earl of Arvon’s new gentleman's gentleman, he grabs it. Unfortunately, the earl is the man he seduced and robbed on the road to get here. Oops.

Now he's hip deep in sheep, mud, and collies. His late brother and mother had been well-suited to life on Seacliff Farm. Nichol? Not so much.

A difficult read but oh so good.
Revisado: 08-05-22
This story is set for in a futuristic dystopian society that feels a lot like where we are today. Lol I’m not kidding
Corporations run the world not governments and society is compartmentalized allowing the rich and powerful to exist separately.
Andreas is from the rich and powerful community with so much privilege he spends his days indulging his whims. He is the heir to the all powerful Fortias corporation a mega conglomerate entity.
Jabez is from the slums of B-town and a gladiator forced to fight to his death in matches paying off a 3 year debt for a crime of robbery rather than serve a 10 year prison sentence.
The skillful way Bonnie Dee manages to weave and build a relationship between the two made this novel worth the read.
It’s an interesting plot and there’s enough sex to keep you occupied.
Finally I’m not familiar with this narrator but his deep gravelly voice helped to create the visuals in my head.

Historia
Emery Thompson hates Calvin Chamberlain. From the way he acts like he’s better than everyone to the way he moves through the world thinking his podcast is the cream of the crop, every little thing about the man gets to him. Even that dashing, oh-so-confident smile. He’d rather be caught dead than be around the man any longer than necessary—or admit that last part out loud.
