The Dunnes have set off on a 10 day boat trip, a trip that hopefully will bring them closer together, despite the fact that the father, Stuart is staying behind on land. But just when things start to take a turn for the better, disaster strikes.

Very, very predictable.

I was five paces ahead of the “intrigue” right from the start. Very disappointing. Will use my reading time elsewhere.

Historia
"He believed the dog was immortal." So begins Susan Orlean’s sweeping, powerfully moving story of Rin Tin Tin’s journey from orphaned puppy to movie star and international icon. From the moment in 1918 when Corporal Lee Duncan discovers Rin Tin Tin on a World War I battlefield, he recognizes something in the pup that he needs to share with the world. Rin Tin Tin’s improbable introduction to Hollywood leads to the dog’s first blockbuster film and, over time, the many radio programs, movies, and television shows that follow.

Monotone narration.

Just because you can write the story doesn’t mean you can read it in an exciting fashion. The mediocre narration took away from the story for me.

Historia
People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.

10 STARS!

As a Canadian woman who has been a life long hockey fan, this book made me laugh, cry, feel anger and joy. Beautifully written by someone who knows that hockey is much more than just a sport.

Newly appointed CIA director Dr. Irene Kennedy is the target of an inside plot to destroy her and prematurely end the American President's term. To make matters worse, Saddam Hussein is close to entering the nuclear arms race - something Israel has vowed to stop. With the haunting specter of World War III looming, the president calls on his secret weapon: top counter-terrorism operative Mitch Rapp. But with only two weeks to take out the nukes, Rapp is up against a ticking clock - and impossible odds.

Disappointing
Revisado: 04-12-13
What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?
The narrator has a high, nasally voice that annoyed me throughout the book. I actually checked to see if Ken had narrated anything else and was happy to find that he had not. I loved the first two Mitch Rapp, but this one was ruined for me. I'm VERY happy to see that George Guidall will be taking up from here. He is one of my favourites.
Do you have any additional comments?
Much of the first part of the book is a recap of the previous book in the series. A little too much backtracking...

Historia
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Any additional comments?
This is classic King. As good as it gets for those of us who loved all the earlier works, this novel is cut from the same cloth. I couldn't put it down, but I was sad to see it end. King never disappoints!
