Historia
Renée Ballard works the night shift in Hollywood, beginning many investigations but finishing none, as each morning she turns her cases over to day shift detectives. A once up-and-coming detective, she's been given this beat as punishment after filing a sexual harassment complaint against a supervisor. But one night she catches two cases she doesn't want to part with: the brutal beating of a prostitute left for dead in a parking lot and the killing of a young woman in a nightclub shooting. Ballard is determined not to give up at dawn.

Love the gray
Revisado: 10-18-24
Micheal Connelly just writesriveting crime novel. I started with the The Black Echo and was an imediate fan. I have listened to this book 2 times and 2cnd time was just as riviting. The Late Show is fast paced and keeps unfolding until the end.I like that his characters are more gray than black and white. Ballard is not a stereotype but a believable person.

Historia
Valerie Darkmore’s entire life has been building up to this moment - her initiation into the Marionettes, the prestigious league of witches sworn to serve the vampires. As one of the last remaining blood witches, her spot is almost guaranteed. At least, so she’d thought. The academy is full of sabotage and secrets as the tasks begin, and Valerie quickly realizes she has more than her spot on the line. Her survival seems just as uncertain. The closer she gets to the final trial, the more she learns everything - and everyone - around her isn’t quite what it seems.

The Last chapter packs a punch
Revisado: 08-09-24
I do not like books ending cliff hangers. If I am invested in the characters I don't need a cliff hanger to continue a series. This book took a while to get into but the pace of the book picked up in last part. The story was good but the ending sucked. I feel like cliff hangers are a terrible way to get you to buy the next book. Because of that I lowered my rating. violet is on her own because I will not be spending any money to find out what happens next

over playing the mind thing
Revisado: 06-02-24
I used to love Norah Robert's books. This started out great. Then it got bogged down in telling us the same thing about mind stuff over and over. She needs an editor to cut out the fluff and keep the story moving. this is 2cnd book of hers I just gave up on because the story is too slowly paced. There are much better books out there dealing with "the sight" that don't drag me through useless details about things that do not contribute to the story.
That being said if you like fluffy crime books this will appeal to you. Give me Harry Bosch over this drivel any day.

Revisado: 04-29-24
The narrator really did a fantastic job. Although it was easy to figure out a lot of the plot it was very enjoyable. A goid one to listen too because not too complicated to keep up with everything happening. Well paced , after the first few chapters setting things up it just flowed.
