It's the day of the Christchurch Dog Show. The whole town is aquiver with excitement. The ladies of the Charity Shop Detective Agency are hoping to make lots of new furry friends. After a very dramatic Best Biscuit Catcher competition, Fiona, Sue, and Daisy from the Dogs Need Nice Homes charity shop come across a shocking scene. The dog show's vet is performing CPR on a woman. The ladies rush over, but it's too late. Back at the shop, the ladies learn that the poor woman was murdered. Someone injected Sylvia Steadman with something very nasty indeed.

But, while he was barrelling around the world having more fun with cars than was entirely reasonable, it seemed obvious that the actual, you know, farming was much better left to someone else. Then one day he decided he would do the farming himself. After all, how hard could it be?

Brilliant and Entertaining

If you enjoy the show, or even if you have your head in the sand and have never watched it, this is a brilliant book. Jeremy tells pulls no punches and tells it like it is. He is equally quick to admit his own failures and shortcomings as well as call out the ludicrous rules and regulations forced upon the hardworking farming community in the UK - all while getting a laugh. Which would be enough to entertain many people - but Jeremy is more than a snarky commentator. Jeremy truly cares about the land, the animals and the people. He is a force of good in a world which has tossed any common sense it originally had straight into the proverbial loonie bin. Bravo, Jeremy. And if I may make a request: please take one of the weeks when British weather does what it does best and completely sidelines all your plans and narrate your other Diddly Squat books. And if you're ever so inclined you have an open invitation to come walk the fields with us on our tiny 30 acres here in Texas!
