What just happened
Revisado: 02-20-22
This is the weirdest book I have ever listened to. It’s a little monotonous because it is over email and instant message, but it’s easy to follow. Fast paced. Just so so weird. One of those books you turn on while you clean.

Historia
When a young writer accepts a job at a university in the remote English countryside, it's meant to be a fresh start, away from the bustle of London and the scene of a violent assault she is desperate to forget. But a vicious debate about violence against women inflames the tensions and mounting rivalries in her creative-writing class. When a troubled student starts turning in chapters that blur the lines between fiction and reality, the professor recognizes herself as the main character in his book - and he has written her a horrific fate.

Took a minute to get into

I enjoyed the performance of this novel and that saved it for me. The story was hard to get through, I felt there were some loose ends that didn’t get tied. Towards the end it grabbed my attention but the beginning felt laborious.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

This is a MUST read!
Revisado: 07-08-19
Where to even begin. The performance of this audiobook was astounding, and the entire story left me begging for more the entire time. I drive a longer commute to work, but typically am able to pause my book and resume in the morning or after work, when the commute is over. This novel had me listening before bed, discretely during work, and even on five minute quick trips to the grocery store.
I bought the book for my bookshelf because I am sure I will read it again. Passed it on to multiple friends who loved it as well.

Historia
Zoe has an unconventional pen pal - Mr. Stuart Harris, a Texas Death Row inmate and convicted murderer. But then again, Zoe has an unconventional story to tell. A story about how she fell for two brothers, betrayed one of them, and killed the other. Hidden away in her backyard shed in the middle of the night with a jam sandwich in one hand and a pen in the other, Zoe gives a voice to her heart and her fears after months of silence. Mr. Harris may never respond to Zoe's letters, but at least somebody will know her story...

Cute story, great performance.

I loved this book. It’s quirky, funny, and easy to listen to and connect to. Found myself laughing out loud and also feeling so sad with the main character. It’s a lighter read, and the performance of it was so so good.

Good story, slow start.

Slower start but the twist truly shocked me! Didn’t love the performance, but wasn’t bothersome. Worth the read!
