Historia
It's been almost a year since 18-year-old Ella Rodriguez was in a car accident that left her crippled, scarred, and without a mother. After a very difficult recovery, she's been uprooted across the country and forced into the custody of a father that abandoned her when she was a young child. If Ella wants to escape her father's home, and her awful new stepfamily, she must convince her doctors that she's capable, both physically and emotionally, of living on her own.

Very enjoyable

This book has some of the most real, complex characters I have encountered. The villains weren’t cliche and two-dimensional, the main characters had some serious flaws to work through, and side characters evolved right along with them. I was very engaged in the story and impressed by it.

Very well written and engaging
Revisado: 11-26-23
Once I started this book it was difficult to stop listening. The prose had a nice flow, the characters had depth, and relationships developed slowly. The world building was excellent and while it was still similar to the original story of Beauty and the Beast, it was still very creative and original.
If I have a complaint, it would be that I found the heroine hard to like and connect with at times. She was stubborn and difficult and tended to push people away even when there was really no go reason to. And there were times where she refused help purely out of stubbornness and pride, and showed no appreciation for assistance.

When my manager assigns me the task of finding a new wake-up call service for our CEO, I think, how hard can this be? Answer: practically impossible. It turns out that no wake-up call company in the world will take him on as a client. They’ve all had enough of his surly personality. So, in an effort not to lose my job, I secretly start making the calls myself, every day at 4:30 am sharp. OMG yes, you read that right - four freaking thirty in the morning.

Best comedy I have found in a while
Revisado: 03-19-23
I love a good romantic comedy book, but I am picky. I don’t view spastic, scattered writing or bullheaded characters that do nothing but fight as good comedy. In this case, I thankfully ran into none of that. Their banter was witty and the awkward situations were extremely amusing. I found myself laughing out loud quite a bit, and I finished this audiobook quickly because I just had to know how things worked out between the two. I was dying for him to figure out who she was.
If I had any issues with this book, it would have to be during the second half when most of their issues surrounded Lizzie getting in her own way. I much prefer external drama in relationships. Mainly because the characters preventing a relationship always feels a little weak and manufactured, like it shouldn’t be a real problem. I just wanted to sit her down and be like “look, by leaving you are allowing your ex to steal far more from you than he did initially. Don’t let him continue to steal from you.” I still wish she’d had that particular realization, but at least she finally got out of her own way.
I do also wish Sasha had gotten more than that anticlimactic little confrontation. They were all too nice.
Despite those complaints, this book was amazing and a well-earned five stars. I always struggle to find good books I am willing to spend my credits on, so I will definitely check out other books by this author.

Because moving across the country with her newborn baby is by far the craziest thing she’s ever done. But maybe it takes a little crazy to build a good life. If putting the past behind her requires a thousand miles and a new town, she’ll do it if it means a better future for her son. Even if it requires setting aside the glamour of her former life.

Enjoyed it
Revisado: 03-04-23
This story kept me listening. I enjoyed the overall lack of drama and ridiculous stubbornness from the main couple. The female narrator did a great job conveying how hopeless and overwhelmed the main female character was feeling. The underlying plot about the baby was pretty interesting. Overall a pretty solid book and I may consider picking up another from this series in the future.

Historia
On the run from ruthless killers, I take a job at a remote mountain estate tutoring a little boy. It's the ideal shelter from the storm that has engulfed my life, but there is a catch. The boy's father is the most beautiful, most dangerous man I've ever met. Darkly seductive and filthy rich, Nikolai Molotov is as magnetic as he is enigmatic. Bruised knuckles and tailored suits, tender endearments and dirty promises—everything about my new employer draws me in, even as my instincts warn that my safe haven just might be the devil's lair. My protector may turn out to be my captor.

Revisado: 03-03-23
I can’t say I loved it. It was an interesting story to listen to while I put together an exceptionally frustrating puzzle. It kept my mind occupied, was well written, and had decent narration. I liked the suspense and action scenes. But overall I think it will be fairly forgettable and will probably be an audiobook I won’t revisit.

Great story
Revisado: 03-02-23
I have read this book previously and loved it. There is just something uniquely charming about it. A little slow paced, but the world building is excellent and I really enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters.
I have to say, listening instead of just reading added something to the story. I found the accents to be a little awkward, but at the same time I get that coming up with new accents would be much too difficult for a narrator. And accents were needed because the main female character was an islander with a “posh” accent to the city folk, and the main male character was an alien. So while a French alien was kinda strange, it worked.
I do wonder what happened to the family and earth after the end of this book. And the coworker. I really need to check out the next book in this series.

I didn’t notice her before... but now I do. Once I focus on her, I can’t take my eyes from my newest obsession. I need to know everything about her. Her past. Her present. The way she takes her coffee. Exactly how she smells after a spritz of perfume in the mornings. I notice the organized way she arranges her clothes in her closet. How she visits the same market each Saturday. The sounds of her breathing as I lie beneath her bed in silence. Violet is mine. She just doesn’t know it yet.

Awful narration
Revisado: 02-10-23
I have read this book before and really enjoyed it, so I thought I would enjoy doing the reread as an audio book. I didn’t get far before I decided to return it, because both narrators are just stiffly reading. No inflection. No emotion. Their tones don’t match what is going on at all, and I think it being a duet narration actually made it more jarring. I think if they had been forced to voice other characters, their reading wouldn’t have been so stiff and lifeless. I couldn’t stand listening to it. If I am going to do a reread, I am much better off just reading the book I purchased than wasting a credit on this. They were actually ruining the story for me.
The book itself is fun. I like more unique characters so the H is pretty amusing to me.

New fan of the author and narrator
Revisado: 02-08-23
I honestly wasn’t expecting much when I picked up this book. I was just trying to use some credits about to expire. I am surprised at how quickly I ended up hooked, particularly with so many sex scenes (I tend to find them repetitive and tedious).
The story itself was really good. I usually like sweeter heroines but I ended up loving Cat. She was confident and hilarious and I wish I had a friend like her. The sex scenes were creative rather than repetitive and just filled to overflowing with sexual tension. The hero was very well written and I found him much more interesting than the usual cookie cutter guy.
My only regret is that they didn’t talk before a certain event happened. I think I would have preferred a less chaotic talk.
The narrator was exceptional and I am impressed how much she got into her roles, right down to various accents, moaning, gasping, stuttering, even yawning (it made me yawn lol). I will definitely keep an eye out for other books by this narrator.
I was so impressed by this book that I have already picked up the third book. I want the first book, too, but I refuse to pay three credits for one book. I think there is no excuse for that first book not to be combined into one at this point.

Read previously, decided to try the audio
Revisado: 01-23-23
I mostly enjoyed this book when I read it the first time, though I had a few issues with the heroine, who is very hard to connect with. She is a little too cautious, even with those she cares about, and never really lets herself just be herself because she’s worried about everything constantly.
For the audiobook, I like the male narrators and I love that there are two instead of one. But I was very put off by the female narrator. Her voice is a little nasally and reminded me way too much of the Illuminaughtii on YouTube. I couldn’t stop thinking of her while the narrator was speaking.
Still not in love with this series but it is still interesting. Can’t decide if I want to continue with the audiobooks for these or go with the regular books since I never finished the series.

Love the story
Revisado: 01-18-23
I read this book when it first came out and loved it then, but then sat on the series for a while because I knew I would need to reread the first book to start the rest. Thankfully the audiobook was available since rereading in a new format makes a reread more interesting.
Overall the audiobook was good, but I struggled a bit with the male narrator. His slow drawl was rather irritating, and sometimes I swear he sounded high. I wish he had just spoken a little more normally.
The female narrator was decent, though I feel like her voice just wasn’t what I pictured for the heroine.
I am excited for the next book to finally find out what happens! Though I am anxious too, because it just can’t be good.
