Historia
Welcome to The Slaughtered Lamb Bookstore and Bar. I'm Sam Quinn, the werewolf book nerd in charge. I run my business by one simple rule: Everyone needs a good book and a stiff drink, be they vampire, wicche, demon, or fae. No wolves, though. Ever. I serve the supernatural community of San Francisco. We've been having some problems lately. Okay, I'm the one with the problems. The broken body of a female werewolf washed up on my doorstep. What makes sweat pool at the base of my spine, though, is realizing the scars she bears are identical to the ones I conceal.

Fun and full of wonderful characters.
Revisado: 05-02-25
Love the character build and the story it self. This book is fun and moves along. SPOILER ALERT The one and only gripe I had is that I imagine every corner when described. So when the description talked at the beginning how the bar-bookstore was floors and floors below ground past some other place… and then suddenly the author talks about how the bar had a sky window for feathered friends to come in… yet the bar is below the ocean… It threw me off.

Winnie Wednesday wants nothing more than to join the Luminaries, the ancient order that protects Winnie's town—and the rest of humanity—from the monsters and nightmares that rise in the forest of Hemlock Falls every night. Ever since her father was exposed as a witch and a traitor, Winnie and her family have been shunned. But on her sixteenth birthday, she can take the deadly Luminary hunter trials and prove herself true and loyal.

So overly dramatic
Revisado: 04-27-25
Too un-necessarily dramatic for me. Would have been excellent if not for it. And as a very personal note, meaning it has nothing to do with the author or the performance… it has way to much descriptions. Feels like the whole book is one mass description, almost no conversations. That to me, makes it a bit boring. Like okaaaay get over it and now show me some real action.

Historia
When I ran from home, I did it to protect my family from myself. I am not to be trusted. There's a creature living inside me that I cannot control. I was doing the world a favor by hiding, and doing what I did best: finding missing animals. But when my father shows up at my door and asks me to find my missing sister, I'm unable to say no because it's my sister, and my wolf's interested. And my wolf always gets her way. Except, when she's interested, people end up dead, too.

Too wordy
Revisado: 04-19-25
I found the story interesting. But it’s too wordy. Like reading to a five year old explaining every phrase.

Perfect!
Revisado: 02-12-25
I’ve been looking for a long time for a book like this one! The pace is perfect the character arcs are amazing, just enough description but also wonderful conversations (I can’t stand books that are mostly just descriptions), adventure and action, without the loss of emotion. The narrator does an amazing job! Bravo!!! Can’t wait to listen to the next one!

One of the best!
Revisado: 02-08-25
This book moves along quite fast, without a dull moment. It captivates like few others do, and intermingles so many real places and points in history, that it just grabs you and won’t let go. It takes you through ups and downs in such a way that you won’t want to put it down. The reader was perfectly chosen and added to the story with her perfect pace and intonation. I’m glad I decided to listen to it, and highly recommend you do too!

Great story, but…
Revisado: 01-24-25
The story was interesting enough to have me finish this book. If you are into endless, and I mean ENDLESS descriptions and barely any conversations, this is your book! As an example, but not an excerpt: <His uniform was yellow, like a ray of sunshine at mid day when birds are quietly waiting for the heat to pass, like the gold trinket my aunt gave me for my fifth birthday before my parents died, like a field full of daffodils and not quite yet ripe orange that grown in the xyz orange grooves of planet abc.> I felt I was going crazy. You can jump 3 to 7 minutes at a time! How sad to ruin a perfectly interesting story with fillers.
