I really enjoyed this book! it was a history lesson/refresher and memoir rolled together. I found listening to this book now, January 2025, to be quite timely, as it reflects how much has changed in politics (politicians used to care about the people) and how much has not changed in society (civil rights, racism, etc). Goodwin is a fantastic writer, weaving the events of the 1960s and her and Dick's life together in a captivating story. Highly recommend!

A deep look at loss and adventure

This was a good book to listen to while I deal with my own grief. I felt comforted in Neil's story and loved being with him on his travel adventures. Makes me want to go on a road trip! Peart's writing style is in line with some of the great writers of this country (Stegner, Steinbeck, Twain), which keeps me wanting more. I love Peart's sense of humor as well. The narration took some getting used to (a bit monotone and slow), but when I came to terms with the thought that Sutherland narrates all of Peart's books (possibly because he was Peart's choice?), I settled in with him. As soon as I finished this book, I started it again as bedtime listening. It's good for that too!

I loved hearing Getty's story, told by Getty!
He did such a great job telling his story, about his childhood, his parent's experiences in the Nazi concentration camps, which had great influence on Getty, about how the band started and continued to create amazing music....all so well done! I want to be Getty's friend!

Heart-felt story of two souls

I loved this book and may need to listen to it again! It was well written and narrated. There's lots of books on dogs, which I also love, but this story brings the relationships we can have with cats to the forefront. I just wish I could have been close friends with Caleb and Masha!

New Kerouac and Hawke fan!

This was my first Kerouac book, and I'm hooked! It was the escape from this modern world I badly needed! Hawke's narration was perfect and his voice well suited for the story. Highly recommend!

Excellent, meaningful, honest. autobiography.

Jane Fonda truly gets better with age. I appreciated her use of the language and her honesty. Parts of her story rang so true with me (and probably most women 50+) that it was like a therapy session! Highly recommend!

I liked Michelle Obama (MO) before listening to this book...after listening, I love and respect her! The book is well written and MO does an excellent job narrating. I highly recommend!

A tonic for adult life

I loved it! Tom Papa is so funny; he turns life's challenges and frustrations into something to laugh at. Just the sound of his voice puts me in a lighter frame of mind. Highly recommend.

A remarkable woman!

I wasn't a huge Hillary fan before listening to her book, but I am now! She's a true public servant and we'd be better off if she were president. The book went a little long and was difficult to listen to at times because of the state of things, but I found it cathartic to listen to and to learn Hillary's side.

Al Franken for president!

Al Franken takes us behind the scenes of politics and makes it interesting, and at times, funny. I highly recommend giving this a listen, and highly recommend Franken for president 2021! The senator 'gets it', and we need more of his type in Washington.
