Historia
Myrlie Louise Beasley met Medgar Evers on her first day of college. They fell in love at first sight, married just one year later, and Myrlie left school to focus on their growing family. Medgar became the field secretary for the Mississippi branch of the NAACP, charged with beating back the most intractable and violent resistance to black voting rights in the country. Myrlie served as Medgar’s secretary and confidant, working hand in hand with him as they struggled against public accommodations and school segregation, lynching, violence, and sheer despair within their state’s “black belt.”

Captivating

From the start the story draws you in. How courageous these two were to civil rights. I learned a lot of things they didn't teach in school.

Historia
The Charisian Empire, born in war, has always known it must fight for its very survival. What most of its subjects don’t know even now, however, is how much more it’s fighting for. Emperor Cayleb, Empress Sharleyan, Merlin Athrawes, and their innermost circle of most trusted advisers do know. And because they do, they know the penalty if they lose will be far worse than their own deaths and the destruction of all they know and love.

Any additional comments?
Wrong narrator, I feel cheated somehow. What happened to the energy, the accents the youthful narration? I have to agree with others, Mr. Keating is all wrong for this genre. Too grandfatherly. Too university professorish. I can't listen to 28 hours of this.

A so so story
Revisado: 01-07-11
While the story itself was pretty good, it would have been much more enjoyable if there hadn't been musical intermissions between each chapter and if someone with a more expressive voice had done the actual reading. The music got so annoying that as soon as a chapter ended and the darn music or song started, I would skip the music and go right into the next chapter. I would have never gotten through the book any other way.

Don't judge this one too soon.
Revisado: 11-16-03
Jeff Wood does an excellent job bring the character of "Pi" to life in this wonderful fiction. It is so well written that at times I forgot it was fiction and had actually happened. It does start out a little slow, but that is necessary to lay the foundation upon which the story develops. I really enjoyed this book and recommended it to everyone I know.

I never knew there was so much involved in hiking. I was enchanted, learned a lot about the Appalachian trail that I never knew and felt like old friends with the characters in the book. The narrator is great! A real pleasure to listen to. This book will have you laughing out loud! You won't be disappointed.

A MUST LISTEN
Revisado: 04-11-03
From the first chapter you will find yourself glued to your earsets. This is classic King and worth every minute of your time. One truly becomes INVOLVED in the story, identifying with each character as if you knew them yourself and chances are, you know someone who is like them.
Nineteen hours of listening pleasure, there is no way Hollywood can do justice to this book. And I'm glad I listened to the book first as I probably would have passed it by had I made the mistake of going to see the movie first. Now, I can happily wait until the movie is put out on video tape before viewing it. Then I'll only be out a few bucks to rent it just to see what they did and what they left out. :)

Highly Entertaining, will make you laugh and cry
Revisado: 12-27-02
What do you do when the last bird leaves the nest? Why plan a romantic vacation to a tropical destination of course. That was the plan and the trials and road blocks along the way are realistic if somewhat exaggerated. This was a great listen, will make you smile one minute, shake your head in agreement the next, laugh out loud and wipe a tear from your eye in the end.
