Ok but not great

Good story and narrator, but it wasn’t great. The story kind of trudges along and there is not climactic change or twists. Good to listen to while working or driving. It will be interesting to see how the 2nd book is.

Couldn’t put it down! Great continuation of this series and it will be hard waiting the for the 3rd book! Tim Gerard Reynolds is one of the greatest narrators!

About one quarter of this book was great! The beginning 3/4 was really just whining, internal thoughts, and self pity. For such a high pedigree the main character sure makes a lot of stupid decisions.

Such a great book and narrator! Perfectly ties up everything from the first 2 books with eloquence. I hope the author is planning to write another series!

Misplaced accents and odd rhythms

The narrator gives characters many different accents, but they seem misplaced. Men from the same kingdoms or same region, but their accents will be French or Texan. I’m not sure if the producer chose them or what. The narrator does a good job at the accents, but they don’t flow with the story very well.

Also it takes a long time to get used to the rhythm of the narrator. Quiet often he stops and starts as if he has a speech impediment. Again his voice is great, it’s just the rythm.

Overall the story is great and I’ve enjoyed listening to it on Audible. It’s not as straight lined as you’d think and Ruin throws in an unexpected twist that I hope will show the true metal of our heroes!

Another great series

This is turning into another great series. TGR narrates another amazing production and makes it spectacular! It was hard to book the book down and do something else. Only problem is now we have to wait another year or so for the next book.

I really enjoyed this whole series. It was hard to put it down! I will miss Ben and his companions. It was always funny listening to their banter.

Great story but contradicting about Skills

So I like the story and characters for the most part, but Aaron keeps being described as this excellent sell sword, but rarely escapes a fight without coming close to death. A few I can understand, but what sell sword goes after the younger scout before the more experienced one?!? Sometimes it’s really difficult to continue through the book with stupid actions of a supposed excellent sell sword. I understand the issue with a sell sword suddenly having to deal with compassion, but how many times does his virtue have to be right before he listens to her. I’m heavily weighing my decision to continue this series.

The pace of the book increased and it decreased the quality. I would’ve preferred having another book added with more detail too.
