Historia
The Devil's Heart is a legendary object of unsurpassed power and mystery. Worlds that believe in magic consider it Darkness's mightiest talisman; and worlds of science consider it a lost artifact of some ancient and forgotten race. Some say the Heart enables its possessor to control people's minds and to amass wealth enough for a dozen lifetimes, while others think it capable of raising the dead, perhaps even changing the flow of time itself. But to all, the location of this fabled object has remained a mystery, until now.

There was a lot of plot holes.
Revisado: 11-08-24
Having read the original novel, I felt some disappointment with the adaptation because of everything that was left out. Ms. McFadden did a great job with the presentation but I wish it had been presented whole.

Historia
In Broad Daylight tells the story of the killing of Ken Rex McElroy on the main street of Skidmore, Missouri, in July 1981. McElroy, an illiterate hog farmer, had terrorized all of northwest Missouri for over 20 years, until the town, and even law enforcement, was terrified of him. McElroy was shot as he sat in his truck in front of the tavern. Over 45 men witnessed the shooting. Despite two eyewitness accounts and three grand jury investigations, no one has been prosecuted for the crime.

Fascinating story
Revisado: 01-24-22
The book covers not only the history of the town and players but also the aftermath of the murder as well. The story was engaging enough that I could listen for hours at a time.

Historia
In this fascinating book, beer expert Mark Dredge dives into the history of lager, from how it was first brewed, to what role was played by German monks and kings in the creation of the drink we know so well today. From the importance of 500-year-old purity laws to a scrupulously researched exploration of modern beer gardens (it's a hard life), Mark has delved deep into the story of the world's favourite beer. From 16th-century Bavaria to the recent popularity of specialist craft lagers, A Brief History of Lager is an engaging and informative exploration of a classic drink.

Learned quite a bit about lager beers
Revisado: 10-18-20
I really enjoyed this title as I learned about the long history of lager beers and their beginnings in Europe several hundred years ago. Dredge did a great job of tracing the history of lagers from their beginnings and how they evolved from their original form to the modern style of lagers produced by different sizes of breweries from small craft breweries all the way up to huge international conglomerates.
The pacing and delivery were excellent and went well with my scenic drives through NE Iowa and SW Wisconsin as the leaves reached their peak this fall.
I would totally recommend this audiobook to anyone seeking to learn more about beer.

A good tool
Revisado: 05-11-12
For people studying for the LSAT, this is a good tool to use in studying. The author and narrator do a good job of keeping a person's interest in the material, even though the subject matter is dry and difficult to keep a person's interest. I listened to this over a period of several days and will listen again before I take the test, in addition to using other study methods.

Historia
It’s no wonder Machiavelli’s account of Césare Borgia in The Prince became one of the best-selling books in the 1980s business community. It’s full of practical hints on how to stab your adversary in the back while staring him in the face. The surprise is how many educated readers still believe that Lucrezia Borgia was the unrivaled monster of her age. That misconception is one of the myths Marion Johnson shatters in her excellent account of a 15th century Italian dynasty. Listeners who prefer contemporary biography will be surprised....

Captivating
Revisado: 12-17-11
The Borgias was a captivating story of a family that came out of nowhere to rise to the heights of power in the church and what today is central Italy before fading away. The story and the presentation was so captivating, it made the drives to and from work go by so much faster.
