The author has a few pieces of ideas to share but waste a ton of our time trying to make more money for himself by pitching his Cardone university, other books he wrote, and his sales app.
If he’s more interested in selling us than teaching us how to sell, he should pay us to listen.

It’s shocking that “doctor” Cloud accuses gay people in this book as inheriting defective, evil genes that somehow they can correct by believing in his God.
It’s people like this that does massive harm by cloaking religious fundamentalism as sincere advice.

It is almost shocking and scary, but every single excuse my boyfriend gave for why it’s not a good time for him to consider marriage after two years of being together was talked about in this book. The day before I moved out, I played the part of the book that is most relevant to him while he was in the shower. That was Good!

What would have made The User's Guide to the Human Mind better?

The central message is that our brains are designed to worry in order to keep us safe. This author repeats this same message over and over again in the entire book and it's incredibly boring. Do they assume us readers/listeners are dumb? If so, he really doesn't understand how the mind works.

Would you ever listen to anything by Shawn T. Smith again?

hell no
