This is a delightful coming of age story that touches topics including race, gender, overcoming adversity, and more. The character development is good and I really felt like I was in the mind of the main character, KB. Grand daddy was alittle confusing at first. The ending was gold as the main lesson was that there is no perfect family, but we can indifference. forgive each other and be a family despite indifferences.

I laughed. I cried. I felt relief. Tyler Merrit is a fantastic storyteller. He interweaves his story with stories from history to help you understand what it's like to be black in America. He doesn't leave anything out. He tells his whole story including the good and the bad. Read this book! You will learn a lot.

This is a beautiful story of overcoming fear and pride, learning to love, and learning to live meaningful life full of purpose. There were a few things that seemed unbelievable and some that were too predictable, but over all I didn't mind.. The narrator was amazing and instantly drew me into the story and drew me into India. I am now looking into henna for my hair and making other products for my hair and skin. I even bought a skirt made from old silk saris.

Ann Voskamp teaches you how to give thanks in everything, even the hard stuff. For some reason, I couldn't get through reading this book, but listening to the author read her own work was impactful. I find myself searching for things to give thanks for, and that has been helpful during these difficult times.

I absolutely loved this book. It was well written, it had a good story, and it was insightful. The author had a way of making you really see things from another's perspective. I even learned some things that made me appreciate people who are different from me. The language was rich, and the reader's voice was a pleasure to listen to. She really brought the story to life. There was a bit of a surprise as well. I highly recommend it.

This book was entertaining and enjoyable yet somewhat predictable. It is very much a romance novel, and will not disapoint romance novel enthusiasts. The main female's character was confusing to me as at first she was presented as one who loved books and ideas and dreamed of a better life. However, those types of characters usually have back bone. This character did not. She did have fortitude and a strong desire to do the right thing, or at least what she thought was the right thing. The hero of the book, on the other hand, was strong and straight forward. Another character that bothered me was David. He was presented as a good person yet ...Maybe it will be explained more in the next book. The narrator's voice took some time getting used to as it was a stern, emphatic voice. It grew on me though, and I ended up thinking her voice was fitting for the story's stark setting. This book was fairly well written but nothing stood out as superb or unique. It is just a good story. Of course the ending of the book made me want to listen to the next book to find out what happens.

Through this fascinating story, Ted Dekker teaches what it's like to find Christ and journey through life with him. He opens eyes to false teaching and practices in the church, and puts the focus on Christ and nothing else. The reader brings it all to life. I couldn't stop listening.

"Before We Were Theirs" was engrossing from the start. I had not heard about Georgia Tan and the Tennessee Children's home society before. Lisa Wingate wrote this novel as a sort of mystery and history. There were different clues in each chapter and bits of true history as well. The performance of this book made you feel as if you were right there living alongside these people. The characters were real. Lisa Wingate got inside a 12 year old child's head to tell this story. She seems to understand about adoption, adoptive parents, adoptive kids, and the importance of birth families. This book was insightful and, It was definitely hard to turn off.
