Historia
Travis Miller, his image reformed from the moron who screwed up our first contact with aliens to one of the heroes of the Battle for Eden, is given a new assignment: Retake the occupied colony of Brigantia. Losing it would be a glancing blow to the Tahni Imperium, but it would be Earth’s first solid strike against them, a chance to go on the offensive. Ryan Hendrix and the Fleet Marines will be the tip of the spear, outfitted with their new Aegis-powered armor, while Jessica Leer and her Fleet Strike fighter squadron clear the way for the Marines and their landers.

oh hell yes I enjoyed this program!
Revisado: 03-03-23
I rely on Audible and I devour sci-fi books here. This is the creative and original hard sci-fi I need. No magic bullets, no magic warp drives, no magic AI, no magic... magic. Grounded and fleshy and intense series so far. I am literally downloading the Armageddon while I type this review.

Historia
It was every starship captain’s nightmare, and for Travis Miller, it was his own personal hell. He’d done everything by the book, but when the Tahni had attacked him and his crew, there was no choice but to return fire and destroy the first alien vessel humans had ever encountered. Excoriated in the press, his career in shambles, Travis is exiled to a long patrol of the outer colony worlds. Forgotten, except as a bad example...until the Tahni prove him right by declaring war on the human commonwealth.

This is a mostly fun beginning to a sci-fi epic.
Revisado: 09-15-22
I instantly appreciated the author's dedication to non-standard approaches to common sci-fi tropes. We recognize the unavoidable spacey problems and situations but really get to indulge in a first-time unfolding of contexts like a starving man who's invited to a legendary chef's home kitchen for a feast. I'll be putting my upcoming credits toward this series so long as the author spoils my sci-fi palette so. My one complaint is performer. Bless him, but it's clear the man has never been in a science classroom or met a Marine or a swabby, army dog, chair force desk jockey nor even a coastie in his life. mispronunciation was frequent and distracting. Am I being a big baby? Maybe, but I know how to say my own rank and that made one of us. Enjoyable story nonetheless.

These three are feeling the pulse of F1. I learned so much in these first 3 episodes. As a new F1 and Donut fan, this is what I need in my ear at work. Fun, silly, informative.

Historia
The members of the Polaris Project knew what they were giving up when they volunteered to fly to the star named Angel-21, but the allure of being the first explorers to leave the Solar System far outweighed the risks. As it turned out, the most dangerous thing they faced wasn't the mission, it was the homecoming. Eight hundred years have passed, and Earth is nothing like they thought it would be.

Not every book needs to try to start a "cinematic universe". Refreshing break; well told tale. Current meta and tropes avoided and we got a fantastic story with a satisfying conclusion. Thank you. Well done.

The oceans are rising, the world's population is growing, terrorist organizations are running rampant, and it has become readily apparent that humanity's destructive nature is at the heart of the matter. When all faith in humanity seems lost, a startling proposal is announced: Solomon Chavez, the mysterious son of the world's first trillionaire, announces that he, backed by a consortium of governments and wealthy donors, will build an interstellar starship.

pretty dang good
Revisado: 11-10-21
The story was fun, rich, and inventive. It's a shame right near the end we got a standard cliche "his power nearly exhausted" after one thing despite spending the last third of the story telling us and showing us inexhaustible psychic power. always a buzz kill when the author chooses a really lazy trope in an attempt to build tension at the right time. Still, pretty good story.

Audibles most "meh" scifi
Revisado: 10-07-21
Pro tip 1) don't write about the military if you have zero clue about the military. This can offend us vets if it's clear you didn't even try to learn.
Pro tip 2) don't narrate a story if you don't understand how words work. it is very distracting hearing mispronounced words in common usage every few minutes. Just don't.

Historia
Gerrold, a science fiction writer from California, adopts a son who has a slight behavioral problem. He believes himself to be a Martian. Gerrold begins the long, involving work of trying to earn the acceptance of Dennis, a hyperactive eight-year-old who desperately wants a father's love, but is so insecure he feels he must be an alien. Gerrold's semi-autobiographical memoir of the first two years with Dennis is a funny, endearing, heartbreaking, and beautifully written testament to fatherhood.

Such a touching story about familt
Revisado: 09-13-21
This is my second David Gerrold book and it definitely will not be my last. As a former combat vet who grew up in the Corps, raised in a fundamentalist christian family, I had no idea who I was until I was in my thirties. That paradigm shift was painful as I'd been forced to confront my own ignorance and hypocrisy with open eyes. The author's words were a comfort hearing a similarly tough journey and reminding me this is what life is, in some shape or form, for everyone. This book is a fantastic journey of loss, pain, healing and love that really hits you in the feels. Thanks David, for sharing a wonderful piece of your family. Those of us without one appreciate hearing families filled with love and hope.

Historia
The daughter of a Legion war hero, fighting was in Andien Broxin's blood. But the battles Republic marines face on strange and alien worlds are a far cry from the vaunted, brutal, no-holds-barred conflicts fought at the edge of the galaxy by the elite legionnaires. Until a devastating war erupts right in the Republic’s stellar backyard. Newly stationed on a mid-core planet being harassed by terrorist revolutionaries, Andien and her fellow “hullbusters” find themselves right in the middle of a desperate fight for survival.

good story, I guess.
Revisado: 07-08-21
Good story, I guess. I can't image a lot of folks really cared what the dead semi traitor had for a backstory, but cool whatever, it was well written. Narrators though, seems to never have known anyone from the military. It's distracting and a bit cringeworthy to have common vocab for us, mispronounced by civilians to all the listeners of the books. I.e. corpsman isn't pronounced "corpse-man" and those hard-charging swabbies having patched holes in my old Marine Corps butt (not pronounced "corpse" either) so many times, deserve to to be honored correctly.
