A Reference for Problems, Decisions, and Thinking
Revisado: 06-12-24
Full disclosure: This is my son's book, and I hope it becomes a tool for all who read it. The following is my honest opinion of the book.
I have read or listened to hundreds of books, but I only have three books I refer to regulary: “Thinking Fast and Slow,” “The 4 Disciplines of Execution,” and “Possible.” I will be adding this book, “Critical Thinking: A Comprehensive Beginner’s Guide to Rational Analysis & Creative Problem Solving,” by Kevin Brown. This book covers critical thinking so completely and directly that it will be my first reference and a checklist for thinking through problems and decisions.
When it comes to the details of critical thinking, I have always had to consult resources couched in laborious theory and research descriptions in order to formulate an effective solution. Having a reference like this book at my right hand is a great way to cut through all that. It will remind me of the critical considerations necessary and appropriate for proper analysis and decision-making.
In Chapter 1, the author itemizes the elements of critical thinking knowledge and meticulously describes each element simply and directly. He then applies these elements, with examples, to problem-solving in Chapter 2 and to making decisions in Chapter 3. In Chapter 4, he reminds us to constantly be aware of all the details, especially our audiences and their concerns, when communicating with others.
Whether this is your first book on thinking or, like me, your umpteenth, you will either discover or be reminded, in an organized and detailed way, how to set your mind on a course of living a thoughtful business and personal life.
