Historia
Khalil Rafati went to Los Angeles in the 1990s and had it all. He was working with Hollywood movie stars and legendary rock musicians, but it wasn't long before he found his way into the dark underbelly of the City of Angels. When he hit rock bottom-addicted to heroin and cocaine, overtaken by paranoia and psychosis, written off by his friends and family - he grabbed a shovel and kept digging. So how does someone with nothing, who feels like they deserve nothing, and who just wants to end it all turn their life around?

Good story
Revisado: 09-25-24
First off, that’s a cool story, bro. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to all the crazy times you shared. I also want to emphasize that drugs are bad people, and as Nancy used to say, “Just say no!” I say all of that to say this: coming from someone very familiar with the 90s and 2000s rave and ecstasy scene, X was never cut with heroin. That was just a rumor that circulated. The amount of H that one would have to take orally to achieve its effects would have to be significantly more than what’s in a pill of X. That rumor used to drive me crazy, and apparently, it still does. Sadly.

Historia
The Notorious B.I.G. was one of the most charismatic and talented artists of the 1990s. Born Christopher Wallace and raised in Clinton Hill/Bed Stuy, Brooklyn, Biggie lived an almost archetypal rap life. Biggie released his first record, Ready to Die, in 1994, when he was only 22. Less than three years later, he was killed just days before the planned release of his second record Life After Death. Journalist Justin Tinsley’s It Was All a Dream is a fresh, insightful telling of the life beyond the legend.

Damn, this was a good book. If you’re a BIG fan you will dig it. It’s weird cuz I knew how it was going to end but a part of me was wishing it wouldn’t the way we all know it ended. BIG Props to author - you did BIGs legacy right.

Historia
After 40 years in the Hells Angels, George Christie was ready to retire. As president of the high-profile Ventura charter of the club, he had been the yin to Sonny Barger's yang. Barger was the reckless figurehead and de facto world leader of the Hells Angels. Christie was the negotiator, the spokesman, the thinker, the guy who smoothed things out.

Historia
This riveting sequel to My Bloody Life traces Reymundo Sanchez's struggle to create a "normal" life outside the Latin Kings, one of the nation's most notorious street gangs, and to move beyond his past. Sanchez illustrates how the Latin King motto "once a king, always a king" rings true and details the difficulty and danger of leaving that life behind. Filled with heart-pounding scenes of his backslide into drugs, sex, and violence, Once a King, Always a King recounts how Sanchez wound up in prison and provides an engrossing firsthand account of the Latin Kings.

I wish I could find the words to express what I am taking away after listening to this book. I think a lot of people will discover reliability in one way or another in this book. There is a powerful message here (and one hell of a story), and the narration is on point. This book along with Rey’s last writing are two of the best books I’ve listened to on audible. I’m walking away as if I was there. Damn. In some aspects, many of us have been there. This is useful medicine for the author and the reader/listener. Amazing writing.
