Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Good story -Great narration
Revisado: 06-15-23
It’s a good book, but what really brings it to life is the amazing performance. The story is compelling but a little too scientific for my taste. What kept me engaged was the fantastic reader.

By a Catholic for Catholics
Revisado: 06-20-20
The course is interesting, but ultimately not really for non-Catholics. It goes pretty easy on the church with regard to harm it has caused and assumes the listener is Christian and believes in the dogma of the Catholic Church. If that’s not you, you may find it frustrating or tedious.

Great content but hard to follow by listening
Revisado: 12-10-19
This is a terrific class but it makes frequent reference to visuals in the accompanying pdf. That means it’s not great for driving, walking, etc. I hope to listen to it again in a setting where I can view the materials.

Terrific!
Revisado: 05-06-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I enjoyed this book more than any of the dozens I have listened to from audible. The author reads it himself and his voice is full of energy and humor. The story is self-deprecating, funny, and in the end, enlightening.
What did you like best about this story?
The narrative take on the pressures of a corporate job and the method dealing with them through meditation.
What about Dan Harris’s performance did you like?
This guy should read other books! He is terrific. Just the right amount of energy and humor for a book of this type. I suspect his time as tv anchor was big help.
What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?
I have now bought two other copies of this book to give to family and friends. I am making my husband read it and although he never reads books of this type, he too is enjoying it. It is a terrific story about how personal stress was alleviated by meditation for a skeptical, intelligent, regular, non-religious guy who otherwise had who had no interest in such things.
Any additional comments?
Beautifully and skillfully written. Try it!

Historia
The pile of recent dieting books is growing faster than the average American's waistline. From the well-known programs that deprive and restrict to ones that rely on juice alone, it seems that everybody has an answer to the growing problem of obesity. When Jon Gabriel's life took an unexpected turn, he suddenly was awakened to the marvelous gift that he had been given - the opportunity to live - and was disgusted at how he had treated his body.

Kooky and Irresponsible
Revisado: 03-28-14
What would have made The Gabriel Method better?
I bought this because I was interested in meditation for weight loss, and still am. The book starts out with interesting ideas and I had an open mind so I just flowed over the references to "past lives" and the supernatural. But, I gave up and stopped listening when the author began advocating skipping vaccinations because they are "toxic." Really? Anti-vaccinations? This books seems beyond new-age, it is anti-science.
Would you ever listen to anything by Jon Gabriel again?
No
What three words best describe Jeffrey Kafer’s performance?
Good. Narration is fine. It is the content that is not worth your time.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Gabriel Method?
Anti-vaccinations, past lives, non-science based assertions.

Historia
Thanks to technology, we live in a world that’s much more comfortable than ever before. But here’s the paradox: Our tolerance for discomfort is at an all-time low. And as we wrestle with a sinking "discomfort threshold", we increasingly find ourselves at the mercy of our primitive instincts and reactions that can perpetuate disease, dysfunction, and impair performance and decision making.

Interesting / Poor Reading
Revisado: 04-14-13
What made the experience of listening to Your Survival Instinct Is Killing You the most enjoyable?
Interesting ideas and well written but the author is better thinker and writer than he is a reader. The audio is stilted and awkward. Very hard to listen to. Wish I had bought the paper version.
