Historia
Winner of the 1973 National Book Award, Gravity's Rainbow is a postmodern epic, a work as exhaustively significant to the second half of the 20th century as Joyce's Ulysses was to the first. Its sprawling, encyclopedic narrative and penetrating analysis of the impact of technology on society make it an intellectual tour de force.

If you like books that make zero sense
Revisado: 07-29-22
If you want a book that makes absolutely no sense and you just want to waste a credit then this book is for you. I am perplexed how in the world this book ever got an award of any kind. Flat out dear reader this book stinks worse than hitting a skunk with your car at 65mph. Yea that stench lingers and makes you wish you had never ventured down that road. Avoid this garbage and don't waste 37 hours of your life.

Historia
In the little upstate New York town of Union Grove, springtime is a most difficult season, known as "the six weeks want," when fresh food is scarce and winter stores have dwindled. Young Daniel Earle returns from his haunting travels around what is left of the United States intent on resurrecting the town newspaper. He is also recruited by the town trustees to help revive the Hudson River trade route shut down peevishly by the local grandee, planter Stephen Bullock.

Another author falls in the pitfalls of serials
Revisado: 04-21-22
By now dear reader you have heard the tale of Mary Beth/Queen Bee/Precious Mother about a gazillion dingdang times and recounted the first three books at least twice within the fourth. I had hope when I started this series that this wouldn't turn into the typical series where by the 3rd book you can tell the author has certain script either committed to memory or as an auto-hotkey where he types MBQB and his computer automatically replaces the text with a paragraph that has been told several times over. My hopes were to be smothered like so much dingdang by-and-by.
I guess the upside is that it is part of my subscription and it didn't cost me a credit.

Historia
The electricity has flickered out. The automobile age is over. In Union Grove, a little town in upstate New York, the future is nothing like people thought it would be. Life is hard and close to the bone. Transportation is slow and dangerous, so food is grown locally at great expense of time and energy, and the outside world is largely unknown. There may be a president, and he may be in Minneapolis now, but people aren’t sure.

Fiction is fiction - English went back to 1800 too
Revisado: 04-21-22
The story is good and fiction is fiction. In this one we need to process that even though the tale takes place in the 21st century that we regressed in the language to the 19th century.
High hopes for the series. The next three books will hopefully not be the typical regurgitation of the prior books with enough fluff to count for a novel.

As Skippy would say - A solid meh
Revisado: 12-12-19
Skippy would rate this a solid meh. The sad fact is that for quite a bit of the beginning of Armageddon to make sense you need to listen to this but overall the cacophony of sound that is involved in the production of an audio drama makes it hard to listen to. If you can get through the first two hours of Armageddon without issues of missing information from the plot of this book then you can safely skip it.

Historia
In Avenging Home, we see how the long-running battle between Morgan's people and their number one nemesis plays out. While Morgan thinks this is the biggest threat they face, there are things on the horizon he cannot yet see that are going to dwarf these problems. Morgan has lived in a vacuum. He's had little information about the outside world. While he's used radios to listen to what he can, there's been precious little real information.

Solid story, fair writing.
Revisado: 08-11-19
The story is evolving well but it seems that the author is using filler at times just to hit word counts. Someone should do a mass search for the phrase "so good" and count how many times that has been used as filler alone.

I don't know how much of this book was completed by Vince Flynn before he died but Kyle Mills completed it in the same voice and tone that Vince has been using for this series.
Excellent writing Kyle!

Audible needs more stars for this book
Revisado: 05-12-15
If you could sum up Red Rising in three words, what would they be?
No Holds Barred. Don't expect the standard format of most story telling because when you least expect it something not at all expected happens.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Sevro, that guy is scrappy.
Which scene was your favorite?
Three Pints - that will make itself very clear once you listen or read this book.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Class warfare has just begun.

Historia
We think of the FBI as America’s police force. But secret intelligence is the Bureau’s first and foremost mission. Enemies is the story of how presidents have used the FBI as the most formidable intelligence force in American history. This is the first definitive history of the FBI’s secret intelligence operations, from an author whose work on the Pentagon and the CIA won him the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award.

Not as good as Legacy of Ashes, but good.
Revisado: 05-07-12
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
That the book was not as comprehensive as Legacy of Ashes. The reality of this book is that it should be titled "A Biography of J. E. Hoover". I understand that Hoover was a large portion of the FBI history, and that the more recent information is probably still classified and thus unpublishable but Weiner could have retitled this book and cut the last few chapters and had a better book with a much more accurate title.
What three words best describe Stefan Rudnicki???s performance?
Needs linguistics lessons
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
no
Any additional comments?
Repeat after me Mr. Rudnicki; Mah-Cheese-Moe, not Ma-kiss-mo, Mah-Cheese-Moe. That is just the beginning of so many mispronounced words.
