Anne Curzan’s lectures transformed the way I understand the English language as a living entity, evolving before our eyes. This class helped anchor my own usage in a stronger understanding of descriptive and prescriptive rules while comforting (and sometimes discomforting) me with an appreciation of the nuance, flexibility, and judgement available to English speakers and writers.
