Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Compelling story, brilliant narration
Revisado: 02-02-22
If you enjoyed the movie “The Martian,” based on a book Andy Weir, you’ll love “Project Hail Mary” by the same author. The stakes are even higher in this story, filled with life and death challenges, literally with galactic consequences.
The chapters alternate between the present and a not-too distant past in a way that gradually reveals the protagonist’s backstory not only to the reader but to Dr. Ryland Grace himself. This reluctant hero tells the tale in the first person, and in the narration of Ray Porter he is brought to vivid life.
Porter is not only Ryland Grace, but portrays a large supporting cast with distinct character voices and a United Nations of convincing accents. I could say more but won’t give any spoilers.
This is the sort of science fiction that explains a wide variety of crucial scientific “facts” in such a way that their revelation drives the story forward and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Five stars aren’t enough!

Historia
The internationally renowned novel about the life and death of Jesus Christ. Hailed as a masterpiece by critics worldwide, The Last Temptation of Christ is a monumental reinterpretation of the Gospels that brilliantly fleshes out Christ’s Passion. This literary rendering of the life of Jesus Christ has courted controversy since its publication by depicting a Christ far more human than the one seen in the Bible. He is a figure who is gloriously divine but earthy and human, a man like any other - subject to fear, doubt, and pain.

Masterful performance of a masterpiece!
Revisado: 03-07-21
Joshua Saxon’s narration masterfully depicts the huge cast of characters with clarity, while keeping the story moving with perfect pacing and momentum. As compelling as he makes the plot, I found myself re-listening to several chapters before moving on, because I was so struck by the beauty of his storytelling.
The complex book itself is a revelation. It brings to life the familiar narrative in a way that gives it the gripping immediacy of a novel, bringing to life the title character in a way the Gospels do not, and perhaps should not. Even if some Christians may disagree with this picture of Christ, they can hardly fail to be moved by the vivid, flesh-and-blood humanity of this portrayal.

Historia
As a biker, I've always loved the open road - and no man ever compared. I’ve mastered the quickie, the one-night stand, and I’m not into changing things up. Why mess with perfection? When I roll into Snow Lake to take over my uncle’s mechanic shop, the last thing I want to do is settle down. Until I lay eyes on Grayson, who is not the kind of man suited for a one-night stand.

Sweet romantic story!
Revisado: 10-24-20
What a delightful story! It's a real romance between two men, with none of the stereotypes or clichés; just an engaging story that keeps you engaged and hoping for a happy ending! The characters are completely believable, and the plot includes a few unexpected turns. There's even a little revelation near the end that sets up the next book in the Hearts of Snow Lake series.
The narrator does a wonderful job of pacing the story, and perfectly delineates the many different characters without restoring to caricature. The chapters are narrated by the two main characters in turn, and there's never a doubt as to which is which in Cam Walker's engaging story-telling.
I look forward to more from this writer and reader!

Historia
The Gay Revolution begins in the 1950s, when law classified gays and lesbians as criminals, the psychiatric profession saw them as mentally ill, the churches saw them as sinners, and society victimized them with irrational hatred. Against this dark backdrop, a few brave people began to fight back, paving the way for the revolutionary changes of the 1960s and beyond.

A detailed history that’s always engaging!
Revisado: 09-13-19
The author gives a detailed history of the struggle for gay rights in the United States over more than half a century. She organizes her vast tale into logical story threads that are easy to follow, while still advancing the overall theme. Donna Postel’s narration is perfectly paced and engaging, and she voices the many well-known players who appear throughout with just a hint of their vocal characteristics, never crossing into impersonation.

An incredibly enlightening read!
Revisado: 07-02-19
Margaret MacMillan manages to provide a very detailed explanation of the complicated currents and events that lead to the Great War in a way that is engaging and hard to put down. Narrator Richard Burnip brings this sprawling history to life in a virtuosic performance that makes even the most necessarily complex sentence structures instantly understandable. As an audiobook narrator myself, I am in awe of his abilities and found listening to him a virtual masterclass in the art of storytelling.

Historia
Paul Bäumer is just 19 years old when he and his classmates enlist. They are Germany’s Iron Youth who enter the war with high ideals and leave it disillusioned or dead. As Paul struggles with the realities of the man he has become, and the world to which he must return, he is led like a ghost of his former self into the war’s final hours. All Quiet is one of the greatest war novels of all time, an eloquent expression of the futility, hopelessness and irreparable losses of war.
