usually I love Robyn Peterman's books, but this one couldn't hold my interest. the characters lacked intelligence, and there didn't seem to be anything redeeming about them. the stories didn't really create interest, like they were written by a ghost writer.

I got interested in this story line early and enjoyed it. I let go of ny suppositions of what cats know or don't know I just went without questioning it too much... it was a lovely story.

It's a clever book. I loved this book. it is written from a cat's perspective. Maybe you need to be an animal lover. or have you ever wondered what cats think? well here it is... .I loved the fanciful ideas from the first few sentences. they're like teasers to your imagination. the author described thoughts that a cat may think versus human thoughts. it is clever and ingenious. Other authors have tried but this writer gets you hooked with the first 3 or 4 lines. As you listen, the paragraphs pull you in as she elaborates on the Joe Grey, the cat's views of his human. As time goes on the cat's ideas are funny, how he describes his owner's behavior - the cat does not want to be human... he's happy as a feline 🐈

I found this book disappointing overall. It seems the writer is inexperienced and has taken on too large a task. in addition, her editor should have led her away from the following pitfalls. The prose was written in 3rd person. The entire book was written as an epilogue! There was no insight within each person, there were absolutely a huge lack of conversations between characters. There was only narration, with limited insight about the character's inner self. This left the reader top wonder what each character experiences. After reading this book, I do not understand Gaori's motives or Subash's feelings. The dresser is left to wonder, does Subash feel angry at his treatment at the hands of his wife or his daughter, why does Gaori do what she does, why is she unable to bond with her daughter, is the pregnancy undesired? What iui s the abandoned daughter experiencing? it's left to the reader to intuit after many chapters and years of the daughter's life.

It is a good book overall, but the beginning is slow and there's a lot of testosterone driven male conversation which can turn off a woman's interest. if a person can push past that, the author delivers a clean, deep insightful look at how the trauma of war affects a soldier's perspective in society; where he questions the value and worth of the mundane or the values/interests of the common people (who live without the effect of trauma).
The author also puts too many heavy ideas and thoughts, ruminations onto the perspective of the young soldier of 19 years. some of the ideas are possible but authorpushez it too far for it to be believable.
the writer is crisp and deep and has written amazing prose.
