Battered Air

Full of filler! A story of a lightening strike on Half Dome doesn't need the politics or music of the sixties. Horrible mispronunciation of very well know places in Yosemite. El Portal is NOT El Portill, and reproducing what the narrator did to "Tuolumne" Meadows is impossible. In my opinion this book glorifies the use of drugs and risk taking in an environment where such behavior costs lives every year.

19 hours of funeral music drove me NUTS!

HATED THE MUSIC. I would like to listen to the sequel but cannot take any more of the DIRGE musical background. Scott Brick narration is excellent.

My "B.S. Meter" was wailing.

I wish I had read this when I was 13 and thoroughly engrossed in science fiction. Then I could have read it every year after. Its the kind of story that would have grown with me as I matured, and I'm sure I would have found new depths each time I picked it up. Enoch is the kind of character one could live with.

"Listen to Grandma..."

This is a good story, well written, and way too long. Not good long, long long. The narration was excellent, and still I yelled at my iPod several times to "get on with it!" You can smell the ending coming for 20 chapters, and still it drags on. "Listen to Grandma."

Just Enough

Just enough tech stuff to make the story interesting. Just enough super hero stuff so we can cheer for the good guy. Just enough softhearted stuff to make the hero lovable. Just enough plot twists to keep us from predicting what comes next.

Brain Candy

A highly entertaining read. I just have one small problem with the excellent narration. Kate Reading represents the voice of Kay Scarpetta in the Patricia Cornwell books. I have listened to her voice that character through many books, so I keep confusing the main character in this book with Kay Scarpetta. Kate Reading does such a good job on all the characters in this book, from robot voices to those speaking different languages from differing times. I thoroughly enjoyed the book in spite of the mix up in my brain of a character from another series.
