Historia
Janusz Korczak was more than a good doctor. He was a hero. The Dr. Spock of his day, he established orphanages run on his principle of honoring children and shared his ideas with the public in books and on the radio. He famously said that "children are not the people of tomorrow, but people today". Korczak was a man ahead of his time, whose work ultimately became the basis for the UN Declaration of the Rights of the Child.

Historia
Now at last Keith Richards pauses to tell his story in the most anticipated autobiography in decades. And what a story! Listening obsessively to Chuck Berry and Muddy Waters records in a coldwater flat with Mick Jagger and Brian Jones, building a sound and a band out of music they loved. Finding fame and success as a bad-boy band, only to find themselves challenged by authorities everywhere....

Confusing like his memory Johnny Depp sounds like you imagine KR sounds like.
Revisado: 08-19-24
In a single sentence as a listener it goes from being Keith Richards to a 3 rd party observer.
Johnny Depp maintains the same dialect whether he’s quoting KR Or whoever
Enjoyed the book but I think it might be better under the influence.

For a Kentucky rifleman who spent his tour trudging through Vietnam's Central Highlands, it was Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'". For a "tunnel rat" who blew smoke into the Viet Cong's underground tunnels, it was Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze". For a black marine distraught over the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., it was Aretha Franklin's "Chain of Fools".

Loved the book and the only negative comment is that I didn’t like the blame being placed on Republicans for Vietnam war. I’m pretty sure JFK was a Democrat and he played a big part to start the Vietnam war

Historia
To uncover the fate of the thousands being interred at a mysterious Nazi camp on the border of the Reich, a young Polish resistance fighter named Witold Pilecki volunteered for an audacious mission: intentionally get captured and transported to the new camp to report back on what was going on there. But gathering information was not his only task: he was to execute an attack from inside - where the Germans would least expect it. The name of the camp was Auschwitz.

Wow . What a hero!!!!
Revisado: 10-12-23
What a hero.
My own father was 17 when the war broke out. He was in the underground throughout the war. Was in Warsaw fighting both the Germans and Russians. Finally in 1961 escaped to England when he heard from a wartime friend that our family was to be detained by the Polish Communists and sent off to Siberia. I was 10 years old my mother was 28 and my father did what was necessary. My father was Family First, Faith Second Country Third and Religion Fourth.
Vitold as brave as he was should have put Family First.

Historia
In 1935 a young Englishman named Laurie Lee arrived in Spain. He had never been overseas. His idea was to walk through the country, earning money for food by playing his violin in bars and plazas. Nearly a century later, the book Laurie Lee wrote - As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning - inspired Alastair Humphreys. It made him fall in love with Spain - the landscapes and the spirit - and with Laurie's style of travel. Alastair dreamed of retracing Laurie Lee’s footsteps but could never get past the hurdle of being distinctly unmusical. This year, he decided to go anyway.

Historia
For Americans, World War II began in December of 1941, with the bombing of Pearl Harbor; but for Poland, the war began on September 1, 1939, when Hitler's soldiers invaded, followed later that month by Stalin's Red Army. The conflict that followed saw the debut of many of the features that would come to define the later war-blitzkrieg, the targeting of civilians, ethnic cleansing, and indiscriminate aerial bombing-yet it is routinely overlooked by historians.

Great Book to listen to and finally someone took the time to write about the Rape and Destruction of Poland and the Polish Citizens. The enormity of cruelty and wanton killing of innocent Polish people by both Germany and Russia is unforgivable. The supposed Allies of France , England and America just watched.

Historia
Have you ever wanted to visit Machu Picchu, or witness the Northern Lights? To explore remote landscapes where no boot has tread, no shutter ever snapped? You can.... Before he became Green Giant on the Appalachian Trail, Gary Sizer was a Marine, a computer nerd, and a guy with a problem. No matter how much time he spends outside, it's never enough. Whether being thrashed by drill instructors at Parris Island or drenched by a squall in a high tundra, the same calming thought always prevailed: It's good to be outside.

Light and easy to listen to. Enjoyed the travel without leaving the comfort of my own chair.
Revisado: 03-10-19
Once again Gary has brought his own twist to a subject that is delivered with a sense of humor. While on my own long walks, many hikers and Pilgrims passed me on the Camino. I was disappointed in myself in how slow I walked and how much effort I was expanding. However Gary makes you realize that it’s ok to feel pain and not be a expert. Even the best sometimes are brought to their knees and need help. Looking forward to next book by Gary.

Great book, loved every minute. I walked the Camino in Spain and that was tough enough . This book inspired me to start walking again.
Perfect book and I’m sure I’ll listen to it again and again. Trail name “Turtle “
It’s pretty obvious why and why it took me so long to complete the Camino.
Buen Camino. This trail and the Camino is exactly the same but totally different.

My Camino Revisited
Revisado: 02-08-18
Can’t say enough great praise for the book and audio. Allow yourself a listen to it.
I could not stop listening. I even bought the book itself. It captured and reflecting my own Camino. The trials and tribulations are true. The people are real. My own Camino resulted in a relationship break up. I now realize why it occurred. The Camino does work in wondrous ways.
This book put my thoughts into words. I have shared this book with friends and Camino family friends.
Buen Camino

Decent story to listen to ,not the best written novel.
Revisado: 09-29-17
The most annoying is the GPS position at the beginning of each chapter. Since the main character loses his phone and GPS early on, why do we need the exact position. He has no idea where he is and approximate distance from land would suffice.
It reads like a fiction story based on a very loosely told truth.
