I just don't feel like the story left a clear picture. I have questions, and I don't think its meant to have a followup, so I think there were areas that deserved more attention and detail. The story itself was very good, but it just all felt....unfinshed, like I missed something. worth a credit, and I think this Author is someone to keep an eye on.

This story was not good at all. I just spent the whole book thinking something was coming. A big reveal or a shocking twist, or that maybe I missed something, but nope, it was just not good.

Monotone and repetetive

I expected more of the story to be about the women, what life was like, the realization of what was happening to them, and their daughters, how the men made them feel about it. Not a lot of emphasis was put on any of that, it was glossed over. It was repetitive, why should they go? why should they stay? but the reasons that were given had no real fight to them, It was frustrating to continue, and I was just relieved when it was finally over. I know the story is there, it just wasn't told in a way that made me interested in the characters, real or fictional. The narrator was not good. I sped the story up to 1.50.

pretty confused about the reviews

In the reviews, this book was compared to Dexter and Mr and Mrs Smith! The thing that made those stories great was the way you felt about the lead characters! You knew they weren't good, but you wanted them to get their happy ending! I hated ALL the characters in this book. The kids were awful, the adults were awful, the story was just so-so, but I had no desire to see the husband OR the wife get away with their MANY crimes. Yuck.

Fun

I really enjoyed this story, and as soon as it ended, I found myself searching for the rest in the series! it took me by surprise in a time when narrator and authors aren't nearly as entertaining as Id like. I will absolutely get my credit back if the book isn't enjoyable and this little mystery is still in my library.

Im not really sure what didnt work for me

its was scattered. The funny dialogue was pleasant, the character development was ok, but I just kept waiting for it to get exciting or...something and it never really did. I didn't hate it. And the narrator was also ok, but maybe the accent was odd for me, because the emphasis on the words almost made every subject seem light, like youre discussing it over lemonade on the patio. Even the really serious stuff didn't seem that serious. It was all just ok.

If you were hoping for long unanswered questions to be completely wrapped up, you may be a bit disappointed. However, its concludes in a way that is satisfying and with a series like this, you cant really ask for better. The team of Darynda and Lorelei make this series one of my most favorite and loved series of all time. I literally go back to the beginning before each new book comes out and am absorbed right back into the story all over again. I am excited to see what Darynda does next!
