Historia
Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

If you’re a fan of alchemy
Revisado: 03-23-25
I put off listening to this book for too long because I thought it would have a thin plot and too much spice (yes there’s such a thing if the story takes a back seat to it), the cover is not appealing to me either - felt kind of YA.
I’d describe this book as maybe a mix of A Discovery of Witches and ToG.
If you’re into alchemy, quick witted banter and magic you’ll enjoy this listen.
Spice is good but definitely not the main part of the book.

Historia
For GBI investigator Will Trent and medical examiner Sara Linton, McAlpine Lodge seems like the ideal getaway to celebrate their honeymoon. Set on a gorgeous, off-the-grid mountaintop property, it’s the perfect place to unplug and reconnect. Until a bone-chilling scream cuts through the night. Mercy McAlpine, the manager of the Lodge, is dead. With a vicious storm raging and the one access road to the property washed out, the murderer must be someone on the mountain. But as Will and Sara investigate the McAlpine family and the other guests, they realize that everyone here is lying.

Great story start to finish
Revisado: 03-07-25
Never listen to these books if you’re in a bad/low place. The author gets to the grit of people and leaves you feeling at a loss to understand how people could be this bad.
The narrator does a wonderful job without trying too hard to create separate voices for the characters, yet you still know who each one is.

Historia
Never make a bet with a man who plays to win. Especially not a man like handsome, arrogant Connor Pratt. A.k.a. the huge PITA who's currently crashing in my spare room. A.k.a. my brother's best friend since they were about six. A.k.a. the one guy who still makes me feel like an awkward tongue-tied loser. But when Connor moved in, I got a glimpse of another side of him. Because, like me, Connor's going through a nasty break-up. And, like me, he's just doing whatever he can to get through it.

Hate the male narrator
Revisado: 08-18-24
Petition to not let this male narrator read any more female parts. I’ve stopped several books because he always makes the woman sound like a whiny idiot and it’s really condescending.
The female narrator was great. Luckily she ready probably 75% of the book.
Good story. No big surprises but good ear candy while I’m working.

Historia
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Heartwarming
Revisado: 08-05-24
I listen to a lot of romance books of various levels of spice. This had basically none but it didn’t need it. The story and growth of the characters was captivating enough on its own.
I’ve enjoyed all of the books Lily Cho has written and listened to them all on Audible.

Historia
Six strangers arrive at the home of preeminent puzzle master Alexei Vasiliev for the reading of his will. Among them are the deceased's widow, who'd already begun divorce proceedings, a virologist troubled by actions in his past, and a convicted murderer on day release. The potential beneficiaries will split Vasiliev's $150M fortune if they participate in his last great work. The choice is simple: leave the house with nothing or continue in the hope of solving the six interconnecting escape rooms within this house.

It was a decent premise but felt quite like a rip off of saw. The end felt rushed and lame to me.

Historia
Thinking outside the box resulted in the best night of my life. Until I discover the man I spent it with is my new boss. Attending a secret party where clothes are optional wasn’t a life goal of mine. But when the exclusive invitation ends up in my mailbox by accident...well. Who wouldn't be curious? It's not like I'm going to do anything. The handsome stranger I meet has different plans. One glance across the crowded party and an hour later we're stretched out on silk. No names and no regrets. But I’d forgotten there’s always a price to pay for pleasure.

Some spice, some nice
Revisado: 03-27-24
The female narrator mispronounced quite a few words that made me giggle but I enjoyed her soothing voice. I also liked the male narrator.
The story was decent. A little spice, a little fade to black.
Would recommend for an easy romance listen.

Really enjoyed this story, the conversations of the characters, the reading/writing of notes felt true and heartfelt.
And some very colorful turns of phrases that stuck with me.

It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. The narrator!
Revisado: 01-07-18
I enjoyed the story. I enjoy most of Sandra Brown’s stories even if you have the general idea of most of her books after two or three of them.
Here I want to talk about the silk that is the narrator’s voice. If you listen to this book and aren’t slightly “moved” by it there’s something wrong with you! 😉
