Best one yet!

This Dark Tower book was, hands down, my favorite so far. The winding story keeps winding but seems more coherent... and the locations and characters are crazy fun. I'll definitely listen to this one again!

Cool old lectures
Revisado: 04-15-23
The audio is pulled off cassette tapes, probably. The information is fun, regardless of the age. I was pleased to hear samples of actual music from the different periods and especially enjoyed the drinking songs!

Historia
No one knows exactly when it began or where it originated. A terrifying new plague is spreading like wildfire across the country, striking cities one by one: Boston, Detroit, Seattle. The doctors call it Draco Incendia Trychophyton. To everyone else it's Dragonscale, a highly contagious, deadly spore that marks its hosts with beautiful black and gold marks across their bodies - before causing them to burst into flames. Millions are infected; blazes erupt everywhere. There is no antidote. No one is safe.

Well written and well read.
Revisado: 12-01-21
It's a wonderfully written dystopian fantasy novel. Definitely has nods to The Stand (and I love that!) as well as his own parallel worlds.
I don't understand the reviews that complain about his writing on this one. It was well written and a fun read with moments of intense and gut wrenching action.

Historia
Since his wife died, Ralph Roberts has been having trouble sleeping. Each night he wakes up a bit earlier until he's barely sleeping at all. During his late-night walks, he observes some strange things going on in Derry, Maine. He sees colored ribbons streaming from people's heads, two strange little men wandering around town after dark, and more. He begins to suspect that these visions are something more than hallucinations brought on by lack of sleep.

Good but not the best.
Revisado: 03-04-20
It's a slow read. You end up becoming very connected with the characters but the whole book is a little... rambling. If you're a big King fan you'll love the tie-ins that are sprinkled through the story. There are references to at least three other King books hidden in here. Again, a good story but not as expansive? engaging? spooky? Not sure, but it's ranked towards the bottom of my personal King list. The reader is amazing and becomes, easily, the voice of Ralph. Recommend for established fans, not anyone new to the worlds of Stephen King.

Touched off by a terrorist act in Bosnia and spreading all too quickly beyond the expectations of those who were involved, World War I was an unprecedented catastrophe with a ghastly cost. After this first "total war"-the first conflict involving entire societies mobilized to wage unrestrained war, devoting all their wealth, industries, institutions, and the lives of their citizens to win victory at any price - the world itself would never be the same.

Revisado: 09-17-19
Each lecture is a new topic applied to the war in general. I enjoyed that style but if you're unfamiliar with the basic timeline of the war it could be confusing. I liked the focused deep dive into different aspects of the war. The lecturer was pleasent... almost too much. I noticed myself drifting from time to time like listen to the pleasant drone of a distant lawn mower.

Surprisingly sound!
Revisado: 08-19-19
Honestly, I had sort of expected a conspiracy theory sort of bias. I couldn't have been more wrong. It's very well researched and laid out.
The narrative of Billy Wa kept things from being too dry and helped give a bit more of the human element.
If you don't already have a pretty solid awareness of military and social/political history a lot of this may be over your head the first listen but I guarentee it will inspire you to investigate the topics further.
I'm definitely going to listen to this again as well as some of her other books.

Historia
By explaining the lean system for identifying and eliminating waste and introducing efficiency in every aspect of the farm operation, The Lean Farm makes the case that small-scale farming can be an attractive career option for young people who are interested in growing food for their community. Working smarter, not harder, also prevents the kind of burnout that start-up farmers often encounter in the face of long, hard, backbreaking labor. Lean principles grew out of the Japanese automotive industry, but they are now being followed by progressive farms around the world....

Did you know that most of our dinosaur fossils were discovered because two grown men absolutely hated each other? It’s true! Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World is a riotous audio exclusive, like if Monty Python taught your history class. Each volume of four 30-minute histories will dig into the petty name-calling and grumbling grudges that led to many of the world’s greatest advancements, all delivered with a cheeky sense of humor. Choose sides: Cope or Marsh, the jerks who discovered so many dinosaurs; Hamilton or Burr, whose rivalry fueled American politics; and many more....
