This book was a pleasure to read, I cried, laughed, listened, related to the characters and found myself touting for a “happy ending”.

A real challenge to complete
Revisado: 10-16-19
This book was “painful “ to read or listen to for me. The details described that had no bearing on the story along with the English narrative was distractive and distasteful for me.
I did get thru it simply because it was a book club choice This is not a book I would recommend.

Unbelievably frightening!
Revisado: 08-02-19
This book is real eye opener about “life” and how it is destroying the earth.
I do not claim to be knowledgeable about any of these topics, but in listening to this book I have become aware of what is happening.
I strongly recommend this book to young and old alike.
This book simply proves that many decisions in our lives may very well enhance our society and comfort. Unfortunately we can never know the negatives until too late.
Read this book, and simply pay attention to all of our wonderful things the earth has to offer and consider the results.
This is no ones fault that it happens, it is all of our faults that together we don’t look to correct it.

Wow what a listen/read
Revisado: 04-24-15
This book started out a bit slow but suddenly took off.
I found it extremely emotional, a great story of survival against many odds.
Each time I thought the the story was coming to a head it would just explode into another chapter in this poor girl/woman's life.
It was very well written, the narrator was excellent and the story complete from infant to demise.
For me the book was an emotional roller coaster, that at times literally took my breath away.
I strongly recommend this book as a do not miss.

Historia
The Passage of Power follows Lyndon Johnson through both the most frustrating and the most triumphant periods of his career - 1958 to 1964. It is a time that would see him trade the extraordinary power he had created for himself as Senate Majority Leader for what became the wretched powerlessness of a Vice President in an administration that disdained and distrusted him. Yet it was, as well, the time in which the presidency, the goal he had always pursued, would be thrust upon him in the moment it took an assassin’s bullet to reach its mark.

"A new understanding of our political system"
Revisado: 03-25-13
I read this book only because it was a selection for our book club, it is something I would never have chosen.
In my opinion the advantage of a book club is it get me to read books i would otherwise have missed.
Passage of Power is a book I am glad I did not miss, the story was very interesting, LBJ was an extremely interesting and knowledgable person. In addition, he did have a "dark side", which after reading this book I realized must exist to get anything accomplished.
The working of our government while certainly the best of anywhere are still flawed, I believe even tho the time period of this book was the mid 60's, the same mixed rules still apply today in the everyday function of our political system.
While the author spent much time on explanations and used many words, which some folks may find unnecessary, I felt they made me better understand what was happening.
Passage of Power is a book a really enjoyed and I found interesting as well as educational, I will be reading more books of this type in the future.
In closing, the book is very long (32 hours) I do not think you will get bored and you will certainly feel your dollars were well spent.

Historia
At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

I will survive
Revisado: 02-08-13
The story is about a woman that has reached the end of her line with her life. She makes
the decision to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, a rugged trek across multiple mountain ranges. This book describes her accomplishments, fears, doubts and ultimately her commitment to herself.
I enjoyed reading about the P.C.T., I found it very interesting, Cheryl's determination is what enabled her to succeed. The people she met along her journey were interesting and quite different from one another. Each had their own reason for taking on such a challenging task.
I found it interesting how little she knew when she started, how she held no one but herself accountable for her problems and the way she endured under some extremely harsh conditions.
I was really surprised on how little money and goods she consumed during her time hiking.
Overall, the book held my interest and was a good read.

Historia
The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had run the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

Not one of his best books
Revisado: 02-08-13
This book in my opinion was not typical Vince Flynn. His books usually grab your interest within the first few pages, this book never got mine. I did not care for the narrator, the story or the characters.
I am a big fan of Vince Flynn and have enjoyed all of his books, and I have read all of them. This book was disappointing. I hope this is not a first read for folks, if it is they will most likely not read another book by Flynn, that will be there loss.
Do yourself a favor, do not judge the author by this offering.

Historia
With his big blue eyes and soulful expression, George was the irresistible runt of the litter. But Dave and Christie Nasser's "baby" ended up being almost five feet tall, seven feet long, and 245 pounds. Eager to play, and boisterous to the point of causing chaos, this big Great Dane was scared of water, scared of dogs a fraction of his size, and, most of all, scared of being alone. Giant George is the charming story of how this precocious puppy won Dave and Christie's hearts and along the way became a doggie superstar.

A delightful read
Revisado: 02-08-13
This book is a must read if you are a dog owner and lover. The fact his owner ended up with the worlds biggest dog was simply by accident.
If you are looking for an easy read, one that will make you smile, but yet have you looking forward to the next chapter, this book will not be disappointing.
It is certainly not a masterpiece or literary giant, but simply an easy delightful read, one you will suggest to friends and family.
