Great Murder Mystery!
Revisado: 02-15-25
I love a good murder mystery and Daisy Darker is one of my new favorites! Can’t believe it took me this long to find it!! Even though Feeney is always wonderful at developing her characters and creating interesting twists and turns in her books, I found Daisy Darker to be an especially captivating page turner. I normally never read books twice but I’m going to listen to this one again for clues I missed the first time!
The narrator’s performance was excellent and added to the mystery. Unfortunately, at times it was difficult to make out the words when her voice would trail off at the end of sentences.

Historia
Kim Lord is an avant garde figure, feminist icon, and agent provocateur in the LA art scene. Her groundbreaking new exhibition, Still Lives, is comprised of self-portraits depicting herself as famous murdered women - the Black Dahlia, Chandra Levy, Nicole Brown Simpson, among many others - and the works are as compelling as they are disturbing, implicating a culture that is too accustomed to violence against women.

It was ok
Revisado: 05-06-24
I chose this book because I always enjoy Reese’s mystery book selections, but this one came up somewhat short. It was rather boring at first because of so many different characters and not enough character development of any of them to feel fully engaged. The mystery part did however get better around the middle of the book. The overall concept of viewing murders through a different lens was interesting but the ending still fell flat for me.

Later that night, Cora Landry is discovered on the tracks, bloody and clinging to life, her friends nowhere to be found. Soon, their small rural town is thrust into a maelstrom. Surprising!
Revisado: 04-02-24
I read tons of suspense/mystery books and usually figure out or at the very least get close to figuring out whodunnit. Not so with this book. It has probably one of the most surprising endings I’ve ever read! I definitely recommend you give it a try.

That Ending!
Revisado: 03-06-24
Another great Orphan X novel brought to life by Scott Brick. It had all the wonderful suspenseful scenes of X being X but there was also fun humor and more humanity than before thrown in. And the ending was mind blowing. Can’t wait for the next book! Soon please!,

Good but not great
Revisado: 02-09-24
The first part of this book was interestingly and realistic. It kept me reading to find out more about the characters and the plot and twists development. The problem was the second part had me rolling my eyes a little too much. I’d say it was worth the read because of the interesting twists bur was somewhat unrealistic and the Hazel character was very frustrating.

The writing style was so descriptive I could really put myself in the main character’s shoes and understand his thoughts and motivations. The story was captivating with great twists and the narrator was excellent. I will look for other books in this series.
