Historia
Stoneybridge is a small town on the west coast of Ireland where all the families know one another. When Chicky Starr decides to take an old, decaying mansion set high on the cliffs overlooking the windswept Atlantic Ocean and turn it into a restful place for a holiday by the sea, everyone thinks she is crazy. Helped by Rigger (a bad boy turned good who is handy around the house) and Orla, her niece (a whiz at business), Chicky is finally ready to welcome the first guests to Stone House’s big warm kitchen, log fires, and understated elegant bedrooms.

Not for me
Revisado: 04-12-23
There were a lot of characters and I thought it was leading up to them be intertwined somehow but it was a very anticlimactic ending and lots of loose ends. I had to rewind and listen again thinking I missed something. I was interested in the story but somehow felt cheated at the end. Not for me.

Historia
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

Nice story
Revisado: 04-05-23
I liked the story. I know the author had to make a point at how miserable Ove was but at times I was thinking please stop being such a jerk. All in all I liked the story.

Historia
A successful film professor and podcaster, Bodie Kane is content to forget her past—the family tragedy that marred her adolescence, her four largely miserable years at a New Hampshire boarding school, and the murder of her former roommate, Thalia Keith, in the spring of their senior year. Though the circumstances surrounding Thalia’s death and the conviction of the school’s athletic trainer, Omar Evans, are hotly debated online, Bodie prefers—needs—to let sleeping dogs lie.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Story
Revisado: 02-17-23
The end story was nice but it felt a little drawn out and boring in the build up. I had it figured out somewhat. I felt like there was some unanswered questions in the end too I might have enjoyed it more with the questions answered.

Historia
Vale Lightner’s dreams turn to ash when the Pittsburgh bar she owns goes up in flames. Just like the past she escaped, very little seems salvageable. Facing unavoidable change, Vale returns to her hometown of Philadelphia to stay with her grandmother. She knows that returning also means facing everything she left behind: a mother and stepfather who shunted her into the background from the day they married, and her charmed and favored half sister, Blythe, who has abandoned a perfect marriage and is now at a crossroads of her own.

I need to stop reading reviews. I had a hard time finishing this one. It was very predictable. I had the whole story figured out before I was half way. The characters were whiney and immature. I found myself rolling my eyes a lot.

Revisado: 02-03-23
I really liked this story. One of my favorites. I can see this book becoming a movie. It’s not often to have a story have so many levels -sad, funny, happy. I listened to this in 6 days and it’s a long one. I’m sorry it’s finished.

I had a hard time finishing this one. I don’t want to give anything away but parts of the book made me want to stop reading it. Parts of the story were just not believable. I found myself rolling my eyes. I don’t understand all the great ratings. Too many sex scenes for my liking. Sorry I just didn’t care for this one.

Historia
Two men, each handsome and unusually adept at his chosen work, embodied an element of the great dynamic that characterized America’s rush toward the twentieth century. The architect was Daniel Hudson Burnham, the fair’s brilliant director of works and the builder of many of the country’s most important structures, including the Flatiron Building in New York and Union Station in Washington, D.C. The murderer was Henry H. Holmes, a young doctor who, in a malign parody of the White City, built his “World’s Fair Hotel” just west of the fairgrounds.
