Historia
A deadly and unprecedented virus is spreading. But those who survive it experience long-term effects no one has ever seen before: utter contentment. Soon after infection, people find the stress, depression, greed, and other negative feelings that used to weigh them down are gone. More and more people begin to revel in the mass unburdening. But not everyone. People in power—who depend on malcontents and prey on the insecure to sell their products, and convince others they need more, new, faster, better everything—know this new state of being is bad for business.

Incredible story line as usual.
Revisado: 02-23-25
Great story; thought provoking good v. evil / free will v. control make for a surprisingly interesting arc. One star off for Morgan.

St. James ‘Kills it” again
Revisado: 10-26-23
Once again, Simone St. James delivers a hair raising spine, tingling, thought-provoking thriller. Excellently written. And once again the narrators did the story justice. Read this and then listen to it! You won’t regret it!

Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

A masterpiece
Revisado: 09-12-23
It is easy to see why this book won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize. It has earned its spot on my shelf as one of the classics. The audiobook is also a masterwork, with Charlie Thurston knocking it out of the park. Appalachia has a special place in my heart, and this story does an incredible job expressing the beautiful complexity of its people’s triumphs and tragedies. My thanks to the author for this book.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Amazing
Revisado: 08-02-23
This audiobook gave me dopamine and oxytocin in spades. It also gave me a little epinephrine mixed in with the dopamine, because now I need Madeline’s story and await the author’s next book.
Highly recommend. Fair warning; ironically, this book fell victim to issues similar to Elizabeth Zott. The publishers put a fluffy, cover and blurb on it, thereby downplaying its story as a ‘fun, feminist charmer,’ leading you to believe you’re going to read some nice fluff. It’s not a marshmallow book. It is dense and satisfying like meatloaf and potatoes.

Historia
Nineteen-year-old Signa Farrow, orphaned as a baby, has been raised by a string of guardians, each more interested in her wealth than her well-being—and each has met an untimely end. Her last remaining relatives are the Hawthornes, an eccentric family living at the glittering and gloomy estate of Thorn Grove. Thorn Grove’s patriarch, Elijah, mourns his late wife, Lillian, through wild parties and drink, while eldest son Percy grapples for control of the family’s waning reputation and daughter Blythe suffers from the same mysterious illness that killed her mother.

An incredibly engaging story with no discernible plot holes. Extremely well written. Performance only served to enhance the book; not a freely given compliment. Bravo to author, production, and voice performance.

Historia
The unapologetic intensity with which Emily Brontë wrote this story ensures that it will forever be considered one of the greatest works of English literature. A passionate tale of a chaotic and often violent love, Wuthering Heights transcends your average romance and, with its Gothic undertones, takes the listener on a journey through one man's lustful hunt for revenge.

The narration makes the story fresh
Revisado: 09-10-21
If you read Wuthering Heights every so often, and it has gotten a bit stale, treat yourself to this fine audiobook version. I got things from this narration that I've never gotten from reading the book, even after all this time. My new favorite way to experience Cathy and Heathcliff in all their morbid glory. Excellent accents, excellent voice inflection for each character. Fantastic!

Sweet Story
Revisado: 09-16-19
I like the story a lot. The narrator has too strong an accent to get into it, especially considering in book 1, the main character actually was from Texas. Knowing the MC in this one is supposedly from LA, and the previous MC is a big part of this story, makes it hard to figure out who is speaking. It's very distracting that they all have varying degrees of the author's Okie spin on a Texas twang. I think this story would be better served in actual print form. Again, I really enjoyed the story line.

The first time I met Brody Easton was in the men's locker room. It was my first interview as a professional sportscaster. The famed quarterback decided to bare all. And by all, I don't mean he told me any of his secrets. No. The arrogant ass decided to drop his towel just as I asked the first question. On camera.

Great book; one small issue
Revisado: 07-09-19
Great story. Overall it was a good audiobook - however, though the narrators are both very professional and I've heard their stuff before and liked it, I felt the male voice was not very well suited for the genre. He has a voice that would be awesome in a thriller or detective series, but it wasn't working for me playing a sexy jock. It really distracted me from getting into the story. Other thing is how much of an immature douchebag Delilah was at the end. Half star off for each.
