Historia
I don’t know who I am. I only know what I need to be. I awoke in a tomb. I had nothing but a big sword and uncertain memories from uncertain lives. I was a great warrior who wandered this land before being killed by an ageless tyrant wizard-king. I was a warrior of a very different sort, who lived in a city of steel and glass.

Good series. Worth the credit.
Revisado: 07-18-24
Good story and character development. The audio performance was not the best. One particular character was extremely robotic. The laughter of the female characters was rather annoying and the same regardless of the character. The occasion bursts of dramatic yelling seemed to come out of nowhere and many times didn’t seem to fit the situation. Overall though, worth the credit.

Historia
A major new novel from one of science fiction's most powerful voices, Aurora tells the incredible story of our first voyage beyond the solar system. Brilliantly imagined and beautifully told, it is the work of a writer at the height of his powers.

Odd book
Revisado: 10-10-15
This was a very odd book. It never took off but kept a steady pace throughout. This read more like an interesting narative of some historical event rather than a science fiction novel.

Historia
The gigantic comet had slammed into Earth, forging earthquakes a thousand times too powerful to measure on the Richter scale, tidal waves thousands of feet high. Cities were turned into oceans; oceans turned into steam. It was the beginning of a new Ice Age and the end of civilization. But for the terrified men and women chance had saved, it was also the dawn of a new struggle for survival--a struggle more dangerous and challenging than any they had ever known....

Dated but still captures and holds your attention
Revisado: 03-17-15
Solid and believable. Sadly, the core technology in the book is still very much unchanged from 40 odd years ago. We are still as helpless today.

Historia
Marsalis is one of a new breed...literally. Genetically engineered by the U.S. government to embody the naked aggression and primal survival skills that centuries of civilization have erased from humankind, Thirteens were intended to be the ultimate military fighting force. The project was scuttled, however, when a fearful public branded the supersoldiers dangerous mutants, dooming the Thirteens to forced exile on Earth's distant, desolate Mars colony. But Marsalis found a way to slip back.

What did you love best about Thirteen?
This was a really good read and a well written anti-hero novel. I kept envisioning a black Jason Statham in Marsalis.

Historia
Not too long from today, a new, highly contagious virus makes its way across the globe. Most who get sick experience nothing worse than flu, fever, and headaches. But for the unlucky one percent - and nearly five million souls in the United States alone - the disease causes "Lock In": Victims fully awake and aware, but unable to move or respond to stimulus. The disease affects young, old, rich, poor, people of every color and creed. The world changes to meet the challenge.

It's a good read.
Revisado: 09-17-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I first downloaded the Amber Benson version and about a third of the way through exchanged it for the Will Wheaton narrated version. I suspect a stronger female narrator would have done better justice to that particular point of view.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Very reminiscent of that Bruce Willis movie, Surrogates.
Was Lock In (Narrated by Wil Wheaton) worth the listening time?
I have listened to one other Will Wheaton narrated book and found him to be a competent narrator. I was not disappointed with his take on this book either.
